On September 18, a history-sheeter, Gausajman Khan attempted to kill his own girlfriend by slitting her throat. He was irked over her decision to marry someone else while he was in jail. As soon as he came out on bail, he went to meet her and attempted to kill her. After slitting her throat, he dumped her body into a canal and left, assuming she was dead. The incident pertains to the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Gausajman and the victim are natives of Sultanpur, they had been in a relationship but as he was in jail the woman decided to marry someone else. The woman currently lives in Delhi due to her job. After getting out of jail, he reached Delhi and called her to meet him.

They roamed around for an entire day after which he took her to the canal track located at Harora Bazar in the Dhanpatganj area and slashed her throat with a knife before dumping the body in Sharda Canal. He assumed she was dead and hence he left.

On the contrary, the victim managed to swim across the canal and tied a tight knot from her scarf around her neck. Then she reached the Dhanpatganj Common Service Centre (CSC), for treatment. The doctors at the CSC, referred her to medical college. In the meantime, she also informed her brother about the attack who lodged a complaint against the accused at the Baldirai police station in Sultanpur.

Following the complaint, the police began looking for the offender who was absconding after the occurrence. His brother, Afroz was reportedly with him during the attack, police initiated a probe against both of them.

During the investigation, the police discovered the whereabouts of the two suspects who shot at the cops during the raid and were injured in the firefight that followed. They were then impounded and are now being treated. According to reports, Gausjaman Khan also committed crimes in Mumbai.

Notably, the state police arrested him within 5 to 6 hours. He was shot in the leg and apprehended along with his brother, Afroz Khan, who was also wounded during the police action.
