On September 15, Delhi police arrested a man, who killed his co-worker over a financial dispute. The accused not only killed the victim but also disfigured her face by pouring acid. It has been alleged that the victim lent the accused a sum of Rs 11 Lakh and when she asked for repayment, he killed her.

The accused has been identified as 41-year-old Mohammad Zakir and the victim as 42-year-old Pinki. They both worked at Nizamuddin Railway Station as a technician and a clerk respectively. They had known each other for over a decade and hence, Pinki could lend him so much money. It has been reported that Pinki took personal loans between 2018 and 2019 to give money to Zakir.

It was a huge amount and Pinki had been asking for repayment for a long time and Zakir kept making excuses. When she became insistent, Zakir decided to kill her. He called her to Knowledge Park in Greater Noida on the pretext of something and stabbed her multiple times, when she was almost dead, he put out a bottle of acid and poured it on her face to disfigure it.

As per the reports, Pinki went missing on September 8 and then her daughter approached police seeking help. The next day, they approached Ambedkar Nagar police station and lodged a missing report, a senior police officer said.

The family members of the victim received a call on September 9 around 8 pm from Knowledge Park police station of Greater Noida (UP) about her mother’s death. A murder case was registered at Ambedkar Nagar police station, the officer said. They said her body was recovered by Greater Noida police on Saturday near Sector 148 Metro Station.

During the investigation, it was found that Zakir had not returned the amount to the victim due to which she was under stress, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chandan Chowdhary said.

The inquiry revealed that on September 8, the woman left her office around 2 pm and Zakir was on leave. When police tried to trace his mobile phone, it was found switched off.

Later, police got the location of the suspect, conducted raids for over 20 hours at more than 60 locations of Subhash Vihar and arrested the accused, the DCP said.

During interrogation, Zakir said that the victim was pressurising him to return the money, following which he planned to kill her, police said.

Reports claimed that, Zakir had initially borrowed some money from Pinki citing a financial crisis and later claimed to have invested it in a “committee” which would apparently fetch her good returns. Zakir also concocted stories about lucrative schemes to extract money from Pinki, who even took a personal loan. Zakir had been confident that he would not only return her share but also ensure that she earned a very good profit. When the money Zakir had borrowed ballooned to Rs 11 lakhs, Pinki began asking him to return the amount. Covid struck and Zakir came up with another excuse.

This year, Pinki began scouting for properties in search of a new house and told Zakir she needed her money back. Last month, she got to know that Zakir had recently sold a house. She was at the end of her patience and told him strictly to pay back. Zakir had no intention to do so.

The accused took her to Knowledge Park, Noida and allegedly killed her with an iron dagger, police said. He poured acid on her face and body to hide her identity, and hid the weapon and acid near the bushes of an electric pole at Sector 148, Noida, they said.
