Tamil Nadu: Tiruvarur based govt college asks students to slam Sanatana Dharam; Withdraws decision after outrage

A Tiruvarur based government college fired a fresh salvo asking students to submit their views in the form of articles against Sanatana Dharma. Following state wide opposition, the college had to take back the circular.

DMK MLA Poondi Kalaivaanan had penned a letter to the principal of the government arts college in Tiruvarur, asking him to encourage the students to engage in an event where they can express their perspective on the topic of ‘Challenging Sanatana Dharma.’

In his letter addressed to the Principal of Thiru Vi Ka Government Arts and Science College, Poondi Kalaivaanan said, “We affectionately refer to our nation as Mother India. Unfortunately, the Sanatanis who infiltrated our country have undermined the cause of feminism in our country. It was only through the Dravida movement that women began to secure their rights. For instance, women gained the right to vote, the freedom to wear blouses, access to property ownership, and opportunities for education. In the present day, as proponents of Sanatana Dharma attempt to reintroduce a birth-based educational system through the New Educational Policy (NEP), our young leader in the Dravidian movement (Udhayanidhi Stalin) has indicated our determination to eradicate Sanatana Dharma. Hence, I extend a warm invitation to students to express their profound thoughts regarding the opposition to Sanatana Dharma during the commemoration of Anna’s birthday, scheduled for September 15th at 03:00 pm in Kalaignar Kottam (hall) at Kattur.”

Letter asking the students to denounce Sanatana Dharma

The Principal of Thiru Vi Ka Government Arts and Science College, Rajaraman gave permission and encouraged the students to participate in the anti-Sanatana Dharma and anti-Hindu religion event. In a circular dated September 12, to the students of the college, the Principal said, “The female students of this college are requested to share their deep thoughts on opposing Sanatana Dharma on September 15, during the celebration of Anna’s birthday, commencing at 03:00 pm at Kattur’s Kalaignar Kottam.”

It is pertinent to remember here that DMK Minister Thiru Ponmudi, who is facing ED probe along with his son, reaffirms that the I.N.D.I.A alliance was formed on the plank of opposition to Sanatana Dharma. “Eradicating Hinduism seems to be a single-point agenda of the parties in the I.N.D.I. Alliance. This is the true face of I.N.D.I. Alliance. It is also unfortunate that DMK Minister Ponmudi spoke on the stage about creating equity in society & gender equality after having spread caste hatred on an elected women representative in the recent past” in a post TN BJP chief K Annamalai pointed out.

BJP denounces anti-Sanatana Dharma act of the principal

It is absurd how could a government college principal take instructions from a local MLA , that too on a highly controversial and sensitive subject, issue circular to students? It is a big question and to show how the academic institutions are being misused to propagate Dravidian ideologies.

Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary SG Suryah, in a tweet said, “The Tamil Nadu government’s overtly anti-Hindu stance is pushing boundaries. Under the pressure of Thiruvarur DMK MLA Poondi Kalaivanan, girl students are forcibly invited to speak against Sanathana Dharma in Thiruvarur Govt college It would be wise for people around puppet MK Stalin to advise him not to play with fire.”

You tuber and BJP functionary Karthic Gopinath @karthikgnath said, “ The spineless DMK is now using students to further their Hindu / sanathana hatred .How did the principal give approval here? This will undoubtedly vitiate the campus atmosphere . Don’t politicise the college campuses for ur petty political gains. #SpinelessDMK

Major Madan Kumar (Retd) said “This is a political masterstroke by DMK. He said it is divert from corruption, poll promise failures, law and order breakdown, severe anti- incumbency, divert it to ideology ( sanadhan opposition), use media power to propagate it and fight 2024 elections. Bonus: Udhaynidhi Stalin establishes himself as a Dravidian Scion ( Dynasty politician tag weeds off ) And our guys are busy explaining sanatana dharma instead of focusing on people issues of the state.”

Tamil Nadu Sports Minsiter Udhayanidhi Stalin had lately kicked up a controversy claiming that Sanatana Dharma is like mosquito, dengue, malaria and corona which had to be eradicated and not just opposed. To express their solidarity with DMK heir apparent or falling in line with the party diktat, seniors and second rung leaders making rhetoric over STD and Hinduism.
