In another horrific incident, eight year old girl was abducted and raped in Aluva near Kochi. The girl  had to undergo surgery owing to the brutality of the crime. The little girl was bleeding profously and after the rape she was abandoned in a paddy field in Aluva. The girl was undergoing treatment in a Medical College near Kochi.

The alleged culprit who has been identified as Christil (36), is a native of Thiruvananthapuram, but, living in Aluva for the past one and a half years. He is reported to be a habitual offender. He was recently released from prison. Police caught him from his hideout under a bridge. He was drinking at that time. On seeing the police, he jumped into the water body to escape. But, police caught hold of him with the help of local residents. It was reported that the girl was lying in a pool of blood around 5.30 am. The accused was arrested in 2022 in connection with a robbery case in the nearby Perumbavoor. He is alleged to have fled his native place in 2017 when he was accused of molesting an old woman.

The incident occurred close on the heels of another incident which took place in the same Aluva on July 28, 2023. Ashfaq Alam (28), the Bihar native and the accused in that case was charge-sheeted on September 1. The 5 years old victim was strangled and died after the rudest sexual assault and her body was found abandoned in a waste bin in Alulva market.

A local man’s provided a lead to the police to catch hold of Christil, the culprit. The local resident said, he had seen the suspect walking along with the girl near his house around 2.15am. He said, it was raining when he woke up to go to the washroom. When he looked outside to see how heavy the rain was, he saw a man and a small girl walking on the street.

The recent case of rape has put the incumbent government and the police in the dock as similar incident had occurred a few days ago. In both the cases, abduction took place before the sexual assault. BJP State president K Surendran stated that Kerala is not safe even for children. He said that the situation is grave, the children are abducted even when they are with their parents. He said, state’s home ministry is a total disaster; CM Pinarayi Vijayan should quit the home ministry. He blamed the police for the heart-breaking incidents.

He ridiculed the CM for coining the name “guest labourers’ for migrant labourers. But, he failed to protect their tender children. He laughed at the government for boasting that it is ready to facilitate education for the child who was beaten in a school in Uttar Pradesh. He told the government that its first priority is to look after and protect the children of the “guest labourers” living in the state. Migrant labourers are under attack throughout the state. Police is fast asleep when criminals and drug mafia rule the state.  He added that the State government should follow UP model in taking stringent action against the culprits. Here, criminals are pampered by the government. Kerala has ceased to be God’s own country, but that of criminals. Surendran accused that Kerala competes with Rajasthan in the realm of rapes, sexual assaults and violence against the women.

V.D. Satheesan, LoP in Kerala Assembly said that the second incident took place one and half kms away from Aluva where CM Vijayan was staying under heavy police protection. He means Aluva Palace, the guest house where CM was camping.
