The State secretary of Popular Front of India (PFI) and National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) wanted, Riyaz Maroof alias Bablu was arrested by Motihari Police on September 9.
“One of the main operatives of PFI Riyaz Maroof has been arrested,” confirmed Motihari SP Kantesh Mishra.
Riyaz Maroof, who came into the limelight after the Phulwari Terror Model, was being searched by the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) and NIA teams for a long time, said SP Mishra. He further said that a case was also registered against him in Phulwari Police station.
Chakia police arrested Riyaz Maroof from the Chakia Shubhash Chowk on the instructions of SP Kantesh Mishra.
SP Kantesh Mishra said that Riyaz Maroof is currently being interrogated at a secret location by the district Police.
“Information about Riyaz’s arrest was given to NIA and ATS,” said SP Mishra.
NIA has carried out extensive investigations in the case relating to unlawful and anti-national activities of members of PFI.
It had earlier arrested 15 accused in the instant case and also seized several incriminating articles and documents relating to the radical organisation which was raising a PFI Army by radicalisation and indoctrination of youth through false and communal narratives, at the behest of anti-national forces operating from across the border, to wage a war against the country.
The accused had been promoting the unlawful and violent agenda and activities of the PFI and channelling illegal funds from abroad to the PFI members or accused persons in this case for carrying out violent terror acts.
Investigations by the agency have also exposed the sinister agenda of the PFI, which had been engaged in organising arms and terror training camps to train the radicalised youth in the use of weapons, swords and iron rods to wreak terror and vengeance on their ‘enemies’.
