Jadavpur University student death: Swapnadeep Kundu becomes victim of distorted culture promoted by libertarians

Swapnadeep Kundu, did not get an opportunity to fulfill the dream and within a few days, his life was extinguished in that dream institution! Where he should be treated like a younger brother by the seniors and given good advice, he was subjected to viciousness.

The recent incident at Jadavpur University has shaken not only us but also the entire nation. What happened? Swapnadeep Kundu, a boy from a village in Nadia, came to study in Jadavpur University with the dream of higher education, one of the most renowned educational institutions in Kolkata and also in the country.

According to the complaint, those involved in this brutal case are also so-called highly educated students of this reputed university. They are highly educated! So in the name of modernity, they talk about free thinking, is this an example of their higher education? Is there a need in society for students with such a highly educated perverted mindset? Had it not been for such highly educated perverted students in the society, at least Swapnadeep would not have died prematurely.

With Swapnadeep’s death, not only have his and his family’s dreams been shattered, but also many of the children from villages far away from the city who dream of studying in reputed institutions in Kolkata may be afraid to study in Kolkata which we call the City of Joy. Even if sent to higher education, parents will have to live in anxiety. After this tragic incident, they may feel that first they should live, then they will pursue a higher education degree from a reputed institution! If there are no more , then what will they do with the higher educational degree ?

This is the mental situation of many guardians after witnessing this incident. I remembered the immortal words of Swamiji, he wanted a hundred fresh young people. He wanted a man making education. Indeed, there may be so many highly educated people with degrees all around, but there is a great lack of real men today. Having witnessed this brutal incident, it seems that the people of the state pray that people want real men for the welfare of the country and society, not only highly educated vampires.

I thought, what about those criminals who had to be involved directly or indirectly with the ragging of the boy? Will they still roam in our society for their next hunt? Yes I used the word ‘hunt’ , because while the people involved in the event are looking like humans, they are actually brutes. No, Swapnadeep will not come back, but I demand the administration to identify the culprits and provide the strictest punishment. And the life of a dream lamp should not be extinguished like this for non-human beings with some distorted mentality.

Rabindranath Tagore wrote his poems that doing injustice and tolerating injustice are equal crimes. I hope that the police administration, education department will take exemplary action against these unforgivable wrongdoers instead of committing the crime of tolerating injustice by remaining silent. I hope with the protest of the common people and the action of the administration, these social disorders will be removed from society.

However, it is not just a few students who are responsible for Swapnadeep’s death. This is attributed to a distorted culture that has been going on for a long time. And the bearers and carriers of this perverted culture, who claim to be libertarians and patrons of this distorted culture, who, while proving their ultra-modernity, are promoting the evil culture called alcohol, drugs, ragging, needs to end. That may be the symbol of education or progressivism for them now! But they may have forgotten or do not know exactly what proper education is called. Swami Vivekananda said, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.” Rabindranath Tagore was also not interested in the formal education system. For them, education didn’t just mean reading a lot of books just for a job. For them, building character should be the main aim of education. But today, education means who knows how much information.

We can talk about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose or Sri Aurobindo as an example of what people are like when they are educated in proper education. Both of them were also highly educated in so-called formal education. When Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose secured the fourth position in the ICS examination, he got the scope to earn a lot of money by taking a prestigious government job. But instead of doing so, he devoted himself to the service of the country. The abolition of the subjugation of the motherland Bharat was the main goal of his life and he devoted himself completely to that task. But was Netaji a fool?

At that time, many people would probably call it foolish to push himself to death without doing a job like an ICS officer. But no, he wasn’t foolish, he was educated in proper education. Swamiji said in his Swadesh Mantra, “forget not that thou art born as a sacrifice to the Mother’s altar. ” As an effect of Swamiji’s call, swamiji’s patriotic teachings, he did not hesitate to take this thundering decision. The same has to be said for Rishi Aurobindo. Despite being highly educated in formal education from foreign country, he devoted his entire life to the feet of the motherland. But sadly, we are not taught much about the biographies of these noble persons. It is not taught about the sacrifice of Khudiram Bose who sacrificed his life for the freedom of motherland Bharat at the age of just 18. The history of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru who were actively participating in the freedom movements from a very early age and making complete sacrifices for the independence of the country is almost forgotten today. That’s why there is such a lack of morality in today’s student community.

If we look at the education system of ancient India, we will see that the gurukul system that was in place at that time maintained brotherhood among the students. Can we think of any such incident happening in educational institutions that are still the bearers of Indian culture – for example, Ramakrishna Mission, various gurukuls? Or have I ever heard the news of such incidents in those institutes ? In the name of modernity, as we move away from the traditional culture of India, these distorted cultures are consuming us, the result of which is the Saurav, Manotosh of Jadavpur. So it’s not just the arrest of a few accused that solves this problem. To find a permanent solution to this problem, to remove the perverted ,dirty culture, students should be equally taught about the glorious culture of Bharat along with formal education at all levels from primary education to masters and above level education.
