Partition Horrors Remembrance Day: Divisive forces still remain a threat to the nation

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day is observed on August 14 every year. Recently, a news story captioned “An accused hoisting Pakistani flag put to jail, police looking for woman”, published in 2022, appeared in the Hindi newspaper ‘Amar Ujala’ Online.

It’s also true that the country celebrated “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with great fervour the year before, and that upbeat programme is still running strong. During the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign last year, the tricolour was flown from house to house at the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Tricoloured posts were shared on social media. This year, the same thing is taking place. In such a happy moment of the country, the incident of hoisting the Pakistani flag, even if it is in a small street in Uttar Pradesh, compels one to think.

Notably, PM Narendra Modi proposed commemorating August 14 as “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day” in 2021. India was partitioned on the basis of religion on August 14, 1947. The Islamists, not the Hindus, were the ones who demanded the country be divided. And this division did not take place in silence or harmony. We frequently hear stories about the malfeasance committed by Islamists during the partition of India.

One must read Prashant Pole’s book “Those Fifteen Days” in order to learn the truth about what took place in the nation for 15 days prior to August 15 1947. In those times, Congress leaders who advocated for the nation’s independence had already packed their bags and left for Delhi.

Only the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and its Swayamsevaks remained to the very end during the partition. AN Bali’s book “Now It Can Be Told” is a must-read for evidence. Although Congress may make a lot of noise today about the nation’s freedom, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was actively involved in the struggle and provided assistance to those arriving from Pakistan.

The Muslim League and Jinnah’s extreme ideas and goals led to the partition of India. Congress, Gandhi, and Nehru had all prostrated before. On the horrors of India’s partition, much has been written, much has been said, and much more could be written or spoken. However, the message in this writing is to make people of the country think about how we can avoid or stop another Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in the future.

What message does the Pakistani flag hoisted last year in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, evoke? One Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the Muslim League were to blame for the partition of India on August 14, 1947. However, it cannot be denied that many Jinnahs have been born in India today.

Can anyone in India negate the existence of hundreds of Muslim leagues under various names?
Has the country not read the Vision 2047 document from the PFI, a banned radical Islamic gang?
If you learn from history, you will know that Mohammed Ali Jinnah, the leader of the Muslims, objected to the singing of “Vande Mataram” in front of Gandhi during the Kakinada Congress session in 1923. The current debate is on whether or not current Muslim leaders and adherents are against the song Vande Mataram.

By the way, long before the partition of India, the seeds of partition were already there. Who can forget Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s thoughts when he established the Aligarh Muslim University? Jinnah was everything to him when it came to the partition of India. Today, there are numerous questions that require answers:
• Is it not true that Aligarh Muslim University still has Jinnah’s portrait on display?
• Can the nation negate the fact that when Pakistan by mistake defeats India in a sporting event (especially in Cricket) fireworks take place in India?
• Is it, not the Muslim League’s ideology (which resulted in the Partition of India) to hoist the flag of Pakistan in India and commemorate its win?
• Can the nation negate that every time the terrorists nabbed has some connection to Pakistan, or other Islamic terrorist groups like ISIS, Lashkar-e-Taiba, or Jaish-e-Mohammed?
• After all, why are these terrorist groups so intent on sowing terror throughout the world? Does it really need to be explained to the Indian people?
• What is the reason behind this love for Pakistan?
• Does the nation have any justification to argue that India cannot be partitioned once more in these kinds of circumstances?
• Can the nation deny the existence of the ‘Tukde Tukde’ gang and the ‘Aazadi’ gang which is flourishing in this country?
• Can the nation ignore the truth that while few police officers are needed in Hindu majority areas to ensure the smooth running of elections and other activities, on the other hand, more police or para-military forces are required in Hindu minority areas?
• Can the nation deny the fact that Friday has increasingly become a stone-pelting day? Who are the targets of the stones? Whose houses and Temples were vandalised by a stone-pelting violent mob?
The nation is currently faced with a number of such kinds of formidable questions, the answers to which must be found at lightning speed.
While the tricolour is being hoisted everywhere under the ‘Har Ghar Tricolor’ campaign, videos of the tricolour having Islamic symbols instead of ‘Ashok Chakra’ have gone viral. Shouldn’t such incidents be considered preparations for a new partition of India?

I believe that commemorating “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day” aims to raise awareness of the horrible event that occurred on August 14, 1947. The country and the Hindu society should remember the unbearable pain of partition. The country and the Hindu society should remember those more than 1.5 crore Indians who had suffered this pain. The country and the Hindu society should remember the lakhs of Hindus who were the victims of this partition. Their souls are still wandering without having been performed ‘Shraadh Tarpan’ by Hindus.
The nation and Hindu society should never forget the thousands of mothers and sisters whose dignity was violated. The nation and the Hindu community should never forget the thousands of Hindus who had to escape leaving their homes and businesses.

The nation has numerous external as well as internal threats. Can the nation refute the previous army chief of the Indian Army’s statement that the country would have to fight the war on “two and a half fronts”? It makes sense to have two fronts, but which is the half-front? Can the nation deny that the stone-pelting trend and incidents during the procession of Hindus are not increasing? Has it not happened on Hanuman Jayanti this year?

In Uttar Pradesh, a Muslim man was arrested for feeding poisoned fodder to Gaumata, which resulted in the deaths of almost 60 cows. Can the nation deny that in Islamist-dominated areas, Hindu houses are the sites of viral posters like “Yeh Ghar Bikau Hai”? Why is this hatred so prevalent? What is the reason behind this hatred?
The date “August 14” designates a day set aside to remember the horrors of partition as well as other contentious issues. It is a day to formally pledge that India will never again be partitioned. It is the day to carefully consider how to work for “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.” It is the day to invoke the feeling of ‘Hindu Bhaav’.
