Pakistan: People in POJK, Balochistan, celebrate August 14 as ‘Black Day’

In a significant and yet ironic instance, people from certain provinces in Pakistan are commemorating India’s independence day as a “Great Day” and, on the other hand, are celebrating their own country’s independence day as a “Black Day”

Ahead of the 77th Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan on August 14, 2023, the residents and the citizens of the POJK (Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir), several political and youth organisations have decided to observe the date as a Black Day as a mark of protest against the atrocious Pakistan Government.

According to a report, the police in the Muzaffarabad district arrested and tortured several people for their anti-Pakistan posts on social media. They were also forced by the police to delete their anti-state posts on social media sites.

Why is August 14 a Black Day?

August 14 cannot be and can never be celebrated as a Great Day. I was, is and will continue to be a day which is marked with communal hatred and bloodshed. The two-nation theory propagated by Muhammad Ali Jinnah continues to poison the minds of the people in the POJK.

A nation-state born on August 14, called Pakistan, has the religion of Islam as its dominant religion. It has become a terrorist training camp where jihadi terrorists are trained on an industrial scale.

It has also provided a safe haven to terrorist leaders like Osama Bin Laden, Masood Azhar, Hafiz Saeed, Syed Salahuddin and the rest. It has a corrupt military and civilian bureaucracy that has drained the country to the brink of default.

Pakistan has nothing to feel grateful about. It has only two 2G. The sewage systems in Pakistan have collapsed. There are several issues troubling Pakistan that, include wheat shortage, load shedding, sliding living conditions non-payment of pensions. It has plundered the resources of POJK.  Pakistan is well known for persecuting religious minorities and slaughtering them without a shed of remorse.

Why is August 15 a Great Day?

What makes India a great day is the fact that on this very day, a new nation was born that came to be known as the largest democracy in the world. It was a day when 500 Princely states of British India joined together to form the Union of India.

India has produced a secular constitution where all citizens are equal before the law of the land. It also has a tradition of honouring its religious and ethnic minorities. A Muslim by the name of APJ Abdul Kalam was a former president, and also Droupadi Murmu, belonging to a tribal clan, is the current president of India.

India is also the world’s fifth-largest economy which has surpassed its colonial predecessor. and is pioneering in 5G technology.

It has also enriched the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. India has held a G-20 to uplift the Union Territory.  Srinagar has become a smart city in India. Thus, India and Indians have every reason to hold up their head and shoulders high.

Reaction in Balochistan

In addition, the people from the violence-hit Balochistan, a province of Southern Pakistan, have also decided to mark August 14, 2023, as the Black Day and celebrate August 15 as the Great Day. The Pakistan Army occupied the independent state of Balochistan or March 28, 1947.

Ever since the Baloch people have raised arms against Pakistan on at least five occasions, not a day passes by when Baloch Rebels of different formations do not attack and kill Pakistan Army personnel using guerilla war tactics.

This comes after an attack on a convoy of Chinese engineers in the Beijing-financed Gwadar Port In Pakistan by a group named Majeed Brigade. This group is a suicide squad of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which in turn is a separatist group.

“BLA Majeed Brigade today targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers in Gwadar. The attack is still ongoing, the separatist group said in a statement.

According to the BLA Spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, two fedayeen of the Majeed Brigade, Naveed Baloch alias Aslam Baloch of Dasht Nigor and Maqbool Baloch alias Qayim Baloch of Geskor Awaran, targeted a convoy of Chinese engineers in Gwadar today. He called the operation self-sacrificing.
