Manipur Viral Video: MHA to refer case of two women being assualted by mob to CBI

The Manipur Viral Video which took the nation by storm and had sparked controversy will now be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken the decision to hand over the case of Manipur Viral Video case to the CBI.  The government is exploring the option of having the trail outside Manipur.

According to sources, the mobile phone from which the video was shot has also been recovered and the person who shot the video has also been taken into custody.

It was on July 19th that a 26 second video had surfaced in which two women were allegedly were sexullay assaulted and were later set free by the mob.

It has been reported that one of the woman is the wife of a former armymen who had served as a subedar in the Assam Regiment and had also taken part in the Kargil War.

Meanwhile, a complaint in this regard was lodged almost a month ago at Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district.

Manipur has been marred by violence for more than two months. The Manipur viral video was dcenounced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi also.
