Acts of atrocities against women in Bihar once again came to the fore when three youths barged into the house of a woman, when she was sleeping with her children and husband and at first brutally assaulted her.

It’s been learnt that when the victim’s husband confronted the accused they started assaulting him and tied him with a tent peg following which they raped the woman one after another. The incident came to light after the victim’s children and husband started making noise following which the villagers arrived at the spot and caught an accused while the two others fled the spot.

Villagers thrash the accused, police arrest the accused

It’s been reported that the villagers thrashed one of the accused black and blue before a police team intervened and rescued them from the clutches of the agitated villagers. The arrested accused has been identified as Raja Kusiyet, a resident of ward no 10 of Khabdah Kanheli Panchayat while the two other absconding accused were identified as Ajit Kusiyat and Rajesh Paswan.

Briefing the media about the development Shailesh Kumar Pandey, Station House Officer (SHO) Narpatganj police station said that ” a case pertaining to the incident has been registered on the basis of application of the victim woman and an accused has been arrested. The nabbed accused has been sent to jail after the initial interrogation while the other absconding accused are being hunted by the police.”

The district police in a press release pertaining to the incident on Monday also shared the details of the case. ‘A case under section 341/323/376 (d) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), section 37(c) of the Bihar prohibition and excise act 2016 and 3(1)(r)(s)(2)(va) of the SC/ST Act has been registered and an accused identified as Raja Kusiyet has been arrested while efforts are on to nab the other accused, read the press release.

Decline in law and order situation in the Mahagathbandhan ruled Bihar

It is to be noted that the issue of law and order in the Mahagathbandhan ruled Bihar has been turning heads lately as the JDU-RJD ruled state has been witnessing a surge in crimes, including of violence against women.

Recently in another case reported from Begusarai, as many as four men assaulted and stripped naked a 14 year old minor Dalit girl and an elderly music teacher after they found them in a compromising position in Pakthaul village under Teghda police station limits.

A video pertaining to the incident had also gone viral on the internet in which the victim girl could be heard pleading for mercy while the accused continued to torn her clothes and thrashing. After the incident sparked an outrage on the social media, the district police apprehended the music teacher while the other accused in the case later surrendered before the police.

BJP hits back at the Mahagathbandhan govt over poor law and order situation

Meanwhile lashing out the Mahagathbandhan government, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a tweet said that the ” Police in Bihar will only hunt the innocent, there are incidents of rape in every district of the state everyday though the Mahagathbandhan government of the state doesn’t take notice of them, the binoculars vision of the leaders of the Thagbandhan reaches too far but they became blind on the incidents of Bihar.”

The opposition leaders including those of the ruling coalition in Bihar have so far halted the proceedings of the monsoon session of the parliament over their demand of an unlimited specific discussion on Manipur under rule 267. While the central government has shown its willingness to discuss the issue of Women safety in a more broader perspective including the state of crime against the Women in states like Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh as well under rule 176.
