Country’s wealthiest MLA and “janata ka sevak,” is Congress party’s deputy CM of Karnataka, DK Shivakumar, mentions the ADR report.

A report released by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) has released a report in which it has mentioned that DK Shivakumar,deputy chief minister of Karnataka is the richest MLA in the country. According to the report Shivkumar has assets worth Rs 1413 crores.

Breakdown of Shivkumar’s Assets

The ADR mentioned the complete breakdown of Shivkumar’s assets and liabilities.

  • Rs 273 crore of immovable assets
  • Rs 1,140 crore of movable assets
  • Liabilities of DKS total Rs. 265 crore

The details of immovable and movable assets were submitted by DK Shivkumar in his 2023 affidavit which he submitted to the election commission.

Karnataka MLA’s Richest, 12 out of 20 included in the list of richest MLA’s

The report also mentions that apart from DK Shivkumar, there are 12 other MLAs from Karnataka who have made their way to the list of richest MLAs.

The report mentions that 4% of Karnataka’s MLAs are billionaires, the highest percentage in the nation (worth Rs 100 crore), and the average wealth of the lawmakers is Rs 64.3 crore.

The top three positions of richest MLA’s is being held by those who belong to Karnataka.

Among all the legislators from across the country, Priyakrishna, the youngest Congress legislator in the Karnataka assembly has the highest liability totaling Rs 881 crore.

Meanwhile, BJP’s Bhagirathi Murulya, had disclosed assets of Rs 28 lakh and liabilities of Rs 2 lakh and is the poorest MLA who was elected to the Karnataka assembly.
