Guwahati: In a sensational case, a minor Hindu girl was abducted by two Muslim boys in the Tamarhat area in Dhubri district. The 17 years old Konch Rajbanshi community girl of Borkhosuwa village was abducted by Sultan Ali and Abdul Mannan Seikh from her village on June 10. The victim’s family complained to Tamarhat police station on June 11. Siben Roy, a Koch Rajbanshi student leader, said this incident is common in minority-dominated districts like Dhubri. Roy noted that Muslim boys pretend to be Hindu men and trap girls in love affairs.

According to a report, the accused, Sultan Ali, posed as a Bengali Hindu boy and used to talk with the victim girl. On June 10 evening, Sultan Ali and his friend Abdul Mannan Seikh called the minor girl and asked her to meet near her house. But the Muslim boys abducted the minor girl, and police could not trace the kidnappers after five days of the abduction.

The victim’s family is in deep uncertainty. They said the police had registered a case under Section 366/34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) under Section 74/23 of the CrPC. However, the police have not been able to rescue the girl after five days. It is suspected that Sultan Ali has taken the girl to Arunachal Pradesh, as his friends work as contract labourers. The Koch Rajbanshi students union said they would stage a huge protest against the police and administration if the minor victim is not rescued soon and the culprits are not arrested.

In another sensational case, a 16-year-old minor Hindu girl was abducted by a Muslim boy named Nizam Uddin Ahmed in the Golaghat district of upper Assam. A case has been filed in the Uriamghat police station of the district. The girl went missing on June 15 after attending a computer class at the computer centre in Uriamghat bazaar. According to the victim’s mother, the minor girl informed her over the phone that Nizam Uddin, a resident of Pulibar in Jorhat district, had abducted her. The victim’s mother complained to the Uriamghat police station on June 16. Locals alleged that Uriamghat police are not taking steps to rescue the abducted minor girl. On June 18, many people protested in front of the police station, demanding immediate action from the police. According to the local people, the kidnapper Nizam Uddin introduced himself as a Hindu boy and trapped the minor Hindu girl in a love jihad. When the girl came to know his original identity, she refused to meet him. But Nizam Uddin forcefully abducted the minor girl on June 15 when she was returning home from a computer class. The kidnapper was involved in drug peddling and was arrested and jailed before for drug peddling. He is also married and a known criminal.

It should be mentioned that, in May 2023, in the Udalguri district of Assam, a poor Hindu girl was rescued from a Muslim family after one year of falling into the trap of love jihad. A Muslim boy named Harej Ali opened a Facebook account with a Hindu name Bipin Kalita and trapped a Hindu girl from the Sivasagar district of upper Assam in 2022. After a few months of Facebook love, Harej Ali abducted the Hindu girl and took her to Bengaluru, where he worked as a factory worker.

The victim girl said she was forcefully engaged in a coffee factory for six months, and not a single penny was given to her.

When she learned about the real identity of Harej Ali, she was tortured by him. After six months in Bengaluru, Harej Ali brought her to his native village in the Bhakatpara area in the Udalguri district. At home, the victim was tortured by the whole family of Harej Ali. She was forced to convert to Islam, which she refused. On May 8, the victim somehow managed to escape from Harej Ali’s home and reached Kalaigaon town without a single penny in her hand. She begged for help from the locals, and local people took her to the Kalaigaon police station. She filed an FIR against Harej Ali and his family. After the FIR, police immediately arrested the love jihadi, Harej Ali.

On the other hand, a Hindu girl was raped by a Muslim man, namely Abdul Ali, in the Lakhimpur district in north Assam. Abdul Ali was engaged as a labourer at a construction site in the district. He introduced himself as a Hindu boy to the victim. Abdul trapped her in fake love and raped her several times. The incident came to light when the minor victim got impregnated. As soon as he learned about it, Abdul Ali fled.
