Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Ritlal Yadav on June 16 stoked a fresh controversy after he claimed that the sacred ‘Ramcharitramanas’ authored by great Hindu Saint Tulsidas was written in a mosque.

The RJD MLA from Danapur constituency, who has a number of cases pending against him, including of murder, was interacting with the media persons when he claimed “that people talk about Ram Mandir but if you remember Ramcharitmanas was written in a mosque, go and turn the pages of History, was your Hindutva not in danger at that time?” He further asked, “Was Hindutva not in danger when the Mughals were ruling us?”.

Tejashwi Yadav’s closest MLA Ritlal Yadav says Ramayana was written in the mosque.

In RJD’s pro-Muslim policy, the party MLAs are ready to become a Muslim by abusing Hinduism.

Condemning Yadav’s remarks Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Samrat Chaudhary said, “See if someone’s mental state is not good and a criminal who is enlightening us on Ramcharitmanas is really unfortunate.”

“There cannot be a greater misfortune than that a criminal who looted this region was provided with an MLA ticket by Lalu Prasad Yadav, and now he is enlightening us on Ramcharitramanas. Lalu ji has criminalised the whole RJD, and a criminal does not have a right to comment on Ramcharitmanas”, quoted further the BJP president.

Meanwhile, in a video release, BJP spokesperson and senior leader Nikhil Anand while slamming the ruling RJD, said that “Ritlal Yadav has said that Ramayana was written in a mosque, we want to ask the RJD people in which history book it is mention, RJD is ready to resort to any level in their policy of Muslim appeasement.”

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that an RJD leader has made a controversial remark about the sacred Hindu scripture. Earlier, senior RJD leader and Education Minister in the Nitish Kumar’s cabinet Chandrasekhar had also stoked a controversy when he claimed “Books like Ramcharitmanas along with MS Golwalkar’s Bunch of thoughts, and Manusmriti created a social divide.”

The senior RJD leader, while addressing the convocation of Nalanda University, had further claimed that “Manas was opposed because it said the lower section of the society becomes poisonous if they get educated.”

Let us recall you that following the controversial remarks by the Education Minister Chandrasekhar, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader from Uttar Pradesh, Swami Prasad Maurya, had also made an objectionable remark against the ‘Ramacharitamanas’.

The SP leader had then raised objections against a certain phrase mentioned in the text and said that it was offensive against some castes. He also had demanded to ban the book while a few supporters of Maurya had torched a few copies of the book, following which an FIR was filed against him.
