North-East has witnessed many drug seizures in its war on drugs. Recently on May 23, in collaboration with other agencies, Assam Rifles confiscated one lakh extremely addictive ‘Yaba’ tablets worth Rs 33.33 crore and detained a drug dealer, as per the officials involved in this seizure. The paramilitary troopers, assisted by officers from the special narcotics police station and the Mizoram Police CID (Crime), acted on a tip to seize the drugs at the Chhunga bus terminal in the Aizawl district and captured the drug peddler.

On May 22, the Mizoram police conducted a successful drug seizure of around Rs 12 crore. On the basis of specific information provided by a sister agency, the police took action. At Tawngtaimual in Zemabawk, a team from the CID SB of Mizoram police stopped a truck with the licence plate MZ-01X-2184 and retrieved and seized 200 soap packs of heroin, totalling 2.461 kg.
