PM Modi flags off Vande Bharat Express connecting Dehradun to Delhi

On May 25, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the indigenously-built Vande Bharat Express that connects Dehradun with New Delhi.

This is the first Vande Bharat train which has been introduced in Uttarakhand.

The train has been built indigenously and is equipped with advanced safety features, including the Kavach technology. It has world-class amenities and heralds a new era of comfortable travel experience, especially for the tourists travelling to the state.

An official release said that Indian Railways is on a quest to completely electrify rail routes in the country guided by the vision of the Prime Minister of providing cleaner means of public transport.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present at Dehradun railway station.

In the southernmost state of Kerala, a Vande Bharat Train was subjected to stone pelting when it passed Tirur railway station in the Malappuram District on May 2, 2023. As per the railway officials, the glass window panes of seats 63 and 64 of the C-Coach were damaged.

PM Narendra Modi has flagged sixteen Vande Bharat trains. These include New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Express, which was flagged on February 18, 2019. The second train runs from New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi in Katra. The third train is the Ajmer-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express.

The fourth and fifth trains are New Delhi- Amb Andura in Himachal Pradesh Vande Bharat Express and Gandhinagar- Mumbai Vande Bharat Express, respectively.

Hazrat Nizamuddin- Rani Kamlapati station Vande Bharat Express is the sixth train. The seventh train is the Mumbai-Shirdi Vande Bharat Express, and the eighth is Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express.

Other trains include Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express, Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express, Secunderabad- Tirupati Vande Bharat Express, Chennai-Coimbatore Vande Bharat Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod Vande Bharat Express, Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express.
