Itanagar: Kibithu, the last village of India in Arunachal Pradesh, is now 4G connected. Yes, it is true; alongside the border area development initiative of the Union Government, hundreds of remote border villages in Arunachal Pradesh are getting 4G network connectivity.

Kibithu considered the last village of India along the Indo-China border, has received 4G mobile connectivity after Airtel successfully commissioned 4G network connectivity, providing seamless connectivity to the hamlet’s citizens.

The village is situated in the Anjaw district of the State and is nearly 70 km North of the district headquarters Hawai.

Regarding the development, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said it’s a giant step aimed at providing modern-day facilities to the citizens living in the remote border areas.

Taking to Twitter, CM Pema Khandu said, “It’s not a simple phone or video call but a giant step aimed at providing seamless connectivity to the people of the first village of India – Kibithu.” “Heartening that the 4G network has been commissioned at Kibithoo – under the Universal Service Funded Scheme,” CM Pema Khandu said while he was in Gujarat when the 4G tower was commissioned in Kibithu and he was able to talk with the people of Kibithu which was once called a ‘remote’ village.

The Central Government-funded 4G tower of Airtel started services in another border village Lumpo, near the Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh. The fresh digital initiative by the Central Government has paved the way for access to a new-age digital economy and other digital facilities for the locals. It is expected that by the end of June, important strategic locations like Tawang, Jung, upper Dirang will be connected with 4G mobile facilities. It should be mentioned that the Centre has launched 254 4G mobile network towers to boost connectivity in 336 border areas of Arunachal Pradesh, specifically in the Line of Actual Control with China. The Government has already approved the installation of 2,605 4G mobile towers that will cater to 3,721 villages in the State.

Local MLA of Kibithu Dawanglu Pul said that it was a long-felt dream of the people of the village. Now we are able to use Google, YouTube and UPI. This will boost the digital economy of the area, and the students will be immensely benefited. Banking and other Government facilities will be available for the locals in their mobile phones, which will be a great development, She added.
