Rajasthan Congress leader and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot’s ‘Jan Sangharsh Yatra’ ended on May 15. This yatra started on May 11 from Ajmer to Jaipur for five days and covered 125 km. This yatra was conducted against corruption for the benefit of people and the protection of youths.

After completing the yatra, the former Deputy CM threatened the Gehlot’s Government that if action was not taken on his three demands by the month’s end, he would launch a massive movement in Rajasthan. This threat might add a new chapter to the ongoing rivalry between Rajasthan’s Congress two stalwarts, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.

These demands are as follows:
-The first demand is to disband Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and reconstitute it.
– The second demand is that the Government should provide compensation to victims who suffered due to the paper leak of the government job exam.
– The third demand is that the Government should order a high-level investigation into the corruption charges levelled against the previous BJP government.

While addressing a rally, the former deputy chief minister said, “If action is not taken by this month-end on these three demands, an agitation will be launched across the state”.
He added, “I want to clarify one thing. Doesn’t matter whether I get any position or not, I will continue working for the people of Rajasthan. I am not scared of anyone”.

The third demand came after Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said during his speech at Dholpur, “Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal helped me to save my Government as they did not support toppling by the BJP Government”. However, Raje has refuted the current CM’s claims, saying it’s all ‘lies’ and fabricated stories.

Sachin Pilot was always vocal against the Gehlot Government’s inaction concerning the corruption charges that took place under Vasundhara Raje’s regime. Earlier, he even sat on a hunger strike on April 11 in Jaipur to demand action against the alleged BJP’s corruption.

Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot have been at odds for a while. The seeds of disregard were sown in the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections. Pilot made his contention for the CM post but was sidelined for more experienced Gehlot.

But was still he was given the position of Deputy CM. But constant rivalry over state governance and public jibes led to the sacking of the deputy CM in July 2020.

The ouster resulted in the rebellious nature of Pilot, which resulted in the setting of his brand of politics by conducting campaigns all around Rajashtan, but without the party’s approval.
