Congress leader Udit Raj is again in the news for his controversial statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The party made him the president of the ‘All India Unorganized Workers and Employees’ Congress in November 2023. Udit Raj shared a video of himself on Twitter, where he is seen giving a speech. Also wrote in the caption, “Whoever is a Modi Bhakt will be killed.” People are criticising his statement.

— Dr. Udit Raj (@Dr_Uditraj) April 25, 2023

‘Bhakt’ is a term often used to refer to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Narendra Modi followers.

His Tweet further said, “This thing is true. Whoever did bhakti was killed. Be it a youth, a farmer or a wrestler. Everyone’s number comes. Two crore jobs for youth, a double income for farmers or government employees all were killed.”

Udit Raj was elected MP from North-West Delhi in 2014 on a BJP ticket, was denied a ticket in 2019, after which he joined Congress and since then he is making such statements, especially against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Cutting his ticket, the BJP made singer Hans Raj Hans a candidate, who also won. After this Udit Raj supports every protest against BJP and gives provocative statements every now and then.

Most recently, Udit Raj organised a protest in support of MNREGA workers. Commenting on the Uttar Pradesh Government, he has also said that UP is neither riot free nor goon free. On the murder of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, Udit Raj held the UP Government responsible. Recently, he had reached Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh and there also gave a statement against the Modi Government.

In the recent demonstration held at Jantar Mantar, he also raised the slogan ‘MNREGA workers are hungry, Modi’s promise is false’. Notably, the protest is being organised accusing the government of cutting the MNREGA budget. Many Congress workers also joined the protest. ‘Save MNREGA, Save Rural India’ was written on the banner. Recently, citing riots in France and Israel, Udit Raj expressed fear of the same happening in India.
In the past, Udit Raj made derogatory remarks against the President of the nation Draupadi Murm. After taking oath as President Murmu visited Gujarat where she said that 76 per cent of India’s salt is produced is in Gujarat.

She also said that the salt produced by Gujarat is consumed by the people of the whole country. On this, Udit Raj said, ‘No country should get a President like Draupadi Murmu ji. There is a limit to chamchagiri too. It is said that 70 per cent of the people eat the salt of Gujarat. You will know if you live life by eating salt yourself.’
He has been commenting on Murmu’s caste from time to time.
