Dibrugarh: BJP will return to power in 2024 by winning more than 300 Lok Sabha seats across the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said in Dibrugarh on April 11.

Addressing a huge rally on the occasion of the Bhumi Pujon of the new BJP regional office in the upper Assam city, Home Minister Amit Shah said BJP is going to win 300 plus seats across the country in next year’s general elections and return to power for the third consecutive term under the leadership of PM Modi.

Home Minister Amit Shah exuded confidence that the party would win 12 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam alone. He said, “Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term with the party winning over 300 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections”.

Attacking the Congress party and ex-MP Rahul Gandhi, the senior BJP leader said, “North East was once considered a fortress of the Congress, but despite Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, the party was wiped out in the three States election in North East. But still, Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi) doesn’t understand the sentiments of the people”.

Implying Rahul Gandhi’s controversial remarks during his visit to the United Kingdom, Amit Shah said, “He (Rahul Gandhi) insulted India from foreign soil. If he continues defaming the country and the Government by peddling lies, Congress will be wiped out from the entire country like in the North East.” Talking about the ‘Kabr Khudegi’ comment on PM Modi by Congress leaders, Amit Shah said, “The more they badmouth PM Modi, the more BJP will grow. Once your (Rahul Gandhi) mother tried this, but BJP and PM Modi came stronger.”

Home Minister Amit Shah said that the controversial Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 or AFSPA had been removed from 70 per cent of the area of Assam, while Bodoland and Karbi Anglong areas have become peaceful, and the State’s border disputes with its neighbouring provinces are being resolved under the leadership of PM Modi.

Referring to the mega Bihu event, which will be held in Guwahati on April 14, in which over 11,000 Bihu dancers will perform in the presence of PM Modi, aiming to create a Guinness world record for the largest Bihu performance, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Earlier, Assam was known for ‘andolan’ (agitation) and ‘aatankwad’ (terrorism), but now there is peace and people are dancing to the beats of Bihu music”.
