A two-and-a-half-minute video which went viral on the social media depicts some family members of the newly incarcerated gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed, at a wedding ceremony fired 150 shots in the air.

In the video, Ashraf Ahmed, the brother of the imprisoned Atiq Ahmed handed over a pistol from his pocket to his nephew Ali Ahmed, who then fired continuous shots in the air.

In March 2023, an MP and MLA court in Prayagraj found Atiq Ahmed and two others guilty in the 2006 Umesh Pal Kidnapping case and subsequently sentenced them for a rigorous imprisonment for life.

The court also placed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Atiq Ahmed, Dinesh Pasi, and Khan Saulat Hanif. However, Ashraf Ahmed (Atiq’s Brother) has been acquitted in the case.

Umesh Pal was the prime witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case. He was shot on February 24, 2023 near his residence in Prayagraj. One of his bodyguards were injured in the attack and later succumbed to his injuries.
CCTV Footage showed how Umesh Pal and his bodyguards stepping out of an SUV when they were shot from behind by the two men.

The Police in Prayagraj have also announced a reward of RS 25,000 for information leading to the arrest of Shaista Parveen, the wife of Atiq Ahmed who is also one of the accused in the Umesh Pal Murder case.
She is currently absconding following the murder of Umesh Pal.

According to the police, she knew about the murder and was apart of the conspiracy. A video of Shaista with one of the wanted shooters named Sabir has gone viral.

On April 6, 2023, a Prayagraj Court rejected the anticipatory bail application of Shaista Parveen considering the seriousness of the crime.

Meanwhile, on April 4, Prayagraj Police made a crucial breakthrough in Umesh Pal’s murder investigation, seizing an iPhone, a register, and two Aadhaar cards from the Kasari Masari residence of convicted gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed.

According to reports, the police recovered the items based on the testimony of Atiq’s accountant, Rakesh Lala, who was arrested with Atiq.

The old register confiscated from Atiq’s house contained the names of some former Atiq Ahmed associates. As many as 12 iPhones were used by Atiq and his aides to plan the murder of Umesh Pal, the IDs and the passwords of which were also mentioned in the register seized by the police. The phones were provided to Atiq’a aides by his wife Shaista Parveen.

According to reports, Atiq Ahmed and his shooters had made their iPhone IDs under various code names and communicated with each other under these aliases to execute Umesh Pal’s murder.

According to the details available in the register, Atiq Ahmed was given the code name ‘Bade Miyan’ and his brother Ashraf was named ‘Chotte Miyan.’ Atiq Ahmed’s key shooter Guddu Muslim, a co-accused in the murder case of Umesh Pal, was given the code name ‘Murgi,’ since he owned a chicken shop.

Similarly, Atiq Ahmed Shooter Mohammad Ghulamand, who had fired from the shop, was named ‘Ullu’. Ghulam is among the five accused on whom the Uttar Pradesh Police has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh.
