Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hits out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on his comments on Prime Minister Modi and the Government of India in Cambridge University on March 3. In a series of tweets, Dr Sarma targeted Rahul Gandhi point by point he made at the university. CM Sarma said, “First foreign agents target us! Then our own target us on foreign land!” He added, “Rahul Gandhi’s speech at Cambridge was nothing but a brazen attempt to denigrate our country on foreign soil in the guise of targeting Adarniya PM Narendra Modi. In his lecture at Cambridge, Rahul Gandhi says Indian democracy is under threat because he can’t freely express himself.”
“Rahul Gandhi travelled 4,000 km in his so-called Bharat Jodo yatra incident-free under the protection provided by the Modi government. Do we need to remind him how yatras led by BJP leaders were sabotaged when Congress was in power?” CM Sarma questioned.

Rahul Gandhi further said the Pegasus virus was found on his phone, and an “officer” warned him about it.
CM Sarma reacted to why Gandhi refused to submit his phone for investigation when the Supreme Court asked for it. Following an extensive investigation, SC concluded that there was no evidence of Pegasus, he tweeted.
Further, Rahul Gandhi said that India’s minorities are unsafe and treated like second-class citizens. CM Sarma replied that since May 2014, communal violence in India has been at the lowest ever and prosperity of minority families the highest. Many minority leaders have reposed their faith in the Modi Government.
Rahul Gandhi, again in Cambridge, said that India is a Union of States modelled after Europe. CM said, “Bharat and her Mahajanapadas as a civilisation entity had existed thousands of years before even Europe became a political entity, yet we are modelled after them?”
Rahul Gandhi also praises China as an aspiring superpower and cites Belt and Road initiative (BRI) as an example in his speech in Cambridge on Friday. “BRI is solely responsible for several countries’ debt crises. Uncle Pitroda should have told Rahul Gandhi about this,” the CM takes a jibe at the Congress leader.
Rahul Gandhi also said that manufacturing isn’t conducive to democracy. CM Sarma mentioned that when Indira Gandhi suspended democracy, manufacturing didn’t increase. But when the Modi Government introduced the PLI scheme, it did. Himanta Biswa Sarma questions

Gandhi family is trying to pay off its debts for the donations they took from them!” Rahul Gandhi also said that in Kashmir, militants saw him, but he knew they wouldn’t target him. Dr Sarma questions, “Why was this not reported to security agencies? Was there some understanding Congress had with these militants to protect Rahul?” Rahul Gandhi described the Pulwama attack as a “car bomb that killed 40 soldiers”. CM Sarma questions, “How dare he insult our jawans? It wasn’t a bomb, sir, but a terror attack. No surprise that he refused to name Pakistan after the Pulwama attack. Is this part of the understanding Congress had with terrorists?”
