Indian Coast Guard conducted the 24th National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan (NOS-DCP) and Preparedness Meeting in Chennai on November 30, 2022. About 100 delegates, including representatives of various Ministries, Central and State Government departments and agencies, State Pollution Control Board, Ports and Oil Handling Companies participated. National capabilities with the common aim to ensure collective preparedness to respond to any oil and chemical spill contingency in Indian waters were reviewed

EXERCISE NASEEM AL BAHR – 2022 SEA PHASE

 

The Indian Navy’s guided missile stealth frigate, INS Trikand, offshore patrol vessel, INS Sumitra, and Maritime Patrol Aircraft, (MPA) Dornier, participated in the 13th Edition of the Indian Navy (IN) – Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) bilateral exercise ‘Naseem Al Bahr’ (Sea Breeze) from November 19 to 24, 2022 off the coast of Oman. The sea phase of the exercise included tactical maritime exercise involving surface action, air defence, maritime surveillance and interdiction/VBSS.

Soldiers Display Combat Skills During ‘AUSTRA HIND’

The bilateral training exercise “AUSTRA HIND 22” between contingents of the Indian Army and the Australian Army is being conducted at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges (Rajasthan) from November 28, to December 11, 2022. This is the first exercise in the series of AUSTRA HIND with participation of all arms and services contingent from both armies. The aim of the exercise is to build positive military relations, imbibe each other’s best practices and promote the ability to operate together while undertaking multi-domain operations in Semi deserts terrain under a UN peace enforcement mandate.

LAUNCH OF ‘IKSHAK’ THIRD SHIP OF SURVEY VESSEL (LARGE) PROJECT

‘Ikshak’’, the third of the four Survey Vessels (Large) (SVL) Project, being built by GRSE/L&T for the Indian Navy was launched on November 26, 2022 at Kattupalli, Chennai. Contract for building four SVL ships was signed on October 30, 2018 for a total cost of Rs 2435 crores. As per build strategy adopted by GRSE, first ship is being built at GRSE, Kolkata and construction of balance three ships (upto outfitting stage)
has been subcontracted to M/s L&T Shipbuilding, Kattupalli.

DELIVERY OF SECOND SHIP OF PROJECT 15B Y 12705

Y 12705 (Mormugao), the second ship of Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyers being built at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), was delivered to the Indian Navy on November 24, 2022. This Project is a follow-on of the Kolkata class (Project 15A) destroyers commissioned in the last decade and the lead ship of the Project – INS Visakhapatnam has already been commissioned into the Indian Navy. Designed by the Warship Design Bureau, Indian Navy’s in-house organisation; and built by M/s Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd, Mumbai; the four ships of the Project are christened after major cities from all four corners of the country, viz. Visakhapatnam, Mormugao, Imphal and Surat.
