The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on December 2, issued a notice to all NGOs instructing them to abstain from raising funds through promotions on print, electronic, social media, or websites by showing weak minor children in deplorable conditions.

The Commission stated that showcasing minor children in such a way is a violation of Child Rights and also the Justice Juvenile Act, of 2015. In its letter, NCPCR has informed all the NGOs that the Commission has received a complaint wherein a Member of Parliament has raised concern to the Commission that various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are seen raising funds including domestic and international for their NGOs through advertisements on print media, news channels, websites, social media, and radio while showing vulnerable minor children in deplorable condition.

The Commission has further informed that in the said matter, it has come across various such advertisements and fund-raising activities by prominent NGOs and organizations.

Therefore, it has asked all NGOs to abstain from practising such activities that include using of pictures, videos, or any such material that showcases vulnerable children in wretched conditions to raise funds as it disobeys child rights, which is in infringement of the provisions of Justice Juvenile (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
