Ahmedabad: ‘Muslim Fighters Club’, an Islamist outfit, held a massive meeting at Juhapura in Ahmedabad on Sunday (November 27), a week before the Gujarat elections. At the meeting, around 3,000 Muslim families reportedly pledged their allegiance to the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Amid ‘Nara-e-Takbir-Allahu Akbar’ chants, in the presence of an Islamic cleric who reads Quranic verses, the ‘Muslim Fighters Club’ announced its support for Arvind Kejriwal and AAP.

In this meeting, the ‘Muslim Fighters Club’ also raised slogans supporting Kejriwal and AAP. According to reports, one of the slogans was, ‘Hath Me Jhadu Lilu-Lilu, AAP-Muslim ilu-ilu’ (‘I love you’). Another slogan was ‘Vote for MAGI’. MAGI means Manish Sisodia (M), Arvind Kejriwal (A), Gopal Italia (G), and Isudan Gadhvi (I)!

Imranbhai of the Muslim Fighters Club reportedly claimed that the club is a group of about 3,000 families and it fights for the rights of Muslims and helps each other out during weddings and different such situations. The club has long been an AAP supporter, but ahead of elections, they have come out vocally in support of AAP. They claim that the members of the club influence 7-8 constituencies of Gujarat. They have appealed to all Muslims of Gujarat to vote for AAP. The community members gathered at the meeting accused Congress of taking advantage of Muslims.

OpIndia quoted Imranbhai as saying, “The Muslim community has always been a victim of hatred and only Kejriwal is the real benefactor of Muslims. I spoke to my Muslim brothers in Delhi, who told me their condition has improved. Kejriwal takes care of Muslims from all parts of the world.” He also said that Kejriwal also takes complete care of Muslim refugees. Imranbhai, however, did not clarify what he meant by Muslim refugees.

Imranbhai said, “Today, we announce that we only have one leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Only he can take us forward. Today’ Muslim Fighters Club’ has 3,000 families; tomorrow, there will be 30,000 and then 3,00,000. But we are announcing that till our last breath, we will vote for Aam Aadmi Party.

2002 rape survivor Bilkis Bano was also present in the meeting, where she said that Kejriwal is an educated leader and has done good work in the education sector. Hence, Muslims should vote for AAP, she said.
