Show-cause notice notice to seven Govt. officials for participating in CPM’s ‘Raj Bhavan march’ against Governor

Kerala Chief Secretary issued show cause notices to seven senior bureaucrats for violating the service rules by participating in the ruling LDF-sponsored Raj Bhavan march and protest rally of November 15, 2022

Kerala Chief Secretary issued show cause notices to seven senior bureaucrats for violating the service rules by participating in the ruling LDF-sponsored Raj Bhavan march and protest rally of November 15, 2022. BJP Thiruvananthapuram district president Adv. V.V. Rajesh complained to Governor Arif Mohammad Khan that several government employees had participated in the Raj Bhavan protest. After punching the attendance and joining the duties, they left the offices and joined the protests against the Governor. Rajesh provided the names and pictures of their participation in the demonstrations and department positions.

Consequently, Raj Bhavan, Principal Secretary, wrote to the State Chief Secretary seeking the details of the alleged violation of the Service Rules by the bureaucrats listed by Adv. Rajesh. Immediately, Chief Secretary served Show Cause Notices to seven senior bureaucrats, including P. Honey, PWD Additional Secretary and president of CPM-controlled Kerala Secretariat Employees Association. Raj Bhavan has asked to find out if the alleged violators had punched the attendance, joined duties, and then participated in the Raj Bhavan protest. Now, Raj Bhavan awaits a response from the state government.

Earlier, BJP state president K. Surendran had moved the Kerala High Court, raised the same allegation, and asked the government to take action against employees who had violated the Service Rules.DMK leader Thiruchi Shiva, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan, Kerala Congress (M) leader Jose K. Mani and other LDF leaders addressed the rally. CPM General Secretary Sitram Yechury inaugurated.

Days before the Raj Bhavan March, Governor had declared that Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues would have to face legal action if they participated in the anti-Governor protest. CM Pinarayi Vijayan realized the seriousness the Governor’s words carried; hence they kept aloof from the din of protests. Now, Arif Mohammad Khan proves that Kerala Governor means business. He would not give up if the Constitution and the whole system were upset and weakened.
