The Ministry of Home Affairs(MHA) has suspended the FCRA license of the infamous Christian NGO World Vision. Even though it is a religious organization, it took pains to hide its identity and proclaimed functioning for the welfare of children and women. NGO works against the Ministry of Home Affairs as it had received funds for ‘religious’ purposes, which contradicts the actual goals.

Legal Rights Protection Forum complained to the MHA in 2019 regarding the violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act of 2010, seeking it to revoke the license of World Vision India. Notably, World Vision operated along with Oxfam India, another Christian FCRA NGO, spearheaded a smear movement against the Bhartiya government and its response to the Covid-19 crisis, all the while fetching the government’s support for the same.

The government unknowingly tied up with World Vision at various levels and provided monetary support. For example, Cherian Thomas, who served as the head of World Vision India, was designated as a consultant to the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), which comes under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Later NIUA partnered with World Vision India to study the impact of Covid-19 on the lives of slum dwellers in various states.

World Vision’s main contribution is to the Right to Education (RTE) cause through which it has been maintaining the monopoly of Christian schools on the education system and eradicating Hindu contributors’ presence. Many state governments have given them entry to school children through RTE initiatives.
