Vadodara: Vadodara city in Gujarat is famous for its ‘garba’ events, which are attended by thousands of people mainly youngsters who dance in a synchronised way to music and traditional songs.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Vadodara on Saturday, Oct 1, with at least 50 ambassadors and high commissioners to participate in the ongoing Navratri festival.

He told reporters that nearly 50 Ambassadors and High Commissioners have come with him to “enjoy garba tonight”.

“On Sunday, they all will be at Kevadia to see the Statue of Unity and other attractions and stay overnight there. This is a great opportunity for them to understand Gujarat,” the External Affairs Minister said.

“Great to see Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Vadodara for the Navratri experience. Look forward to participating in the celebrations tonight,” tweeted Dr Jaishankar, who is a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat.

“There is one leader, who has the thought process of Sardar Patel….,” External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar said hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Interacting with students of MS University at Sayaji Nagar Gruh in Vadodara, Dr Jaishankar said if not for the “tragedy of the partition”, India could have been the largest country in the world.

“The partition has created a problem for what was once Indian. The best way of realising the dream of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel is for India to be confident and successful and come to terms with this India,” he said.

“There is one leader, who has the thought process of Sardar Patel and is realising the vision of Sardar Patel, and who has the same confidence as Sardar Patel — you know who it is,” he remarked.
