BJP Kerala state president K Surendran asked Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan to remove his ministerial colleague Ahmed Devar Kovil from the Cabinet. Kovil is a top functionary of banned Rihab Foundation, an offshoot of outlawed Poplar Front. It is to be noted that Kovil belongs to Indian National League (INL), a splinter group which left Indian Union Muslim League. Indian National League was formed in 1994 by the top IUML leader Ibrahim Suleiman Sait in protest against the continued alliance between the his Party (IUML) with Indian National Congress post Ayodhya demolition in 1992.
K. Surendran said that Rihab Foundation is headed by INL leader Mohammed Sulaiman. Srendran said that if Kovil is not removed from the Cabinet, his Party would launch strong agitation for it.
It is an open fact that ruling CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) and Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front UDF) are hand-in-glove with PFI. Surendran asked both Fronts to snap their ties with the PFI. He said, the demand for ban on RSS is ridiculous and intended to help PFI. It is noteworthy, UDF and LDF enjoy ‘adjustments’ with PFI in several parts of the state.
Now, in the light of the strong Union Government step to ban PFI, Kerala Government has started to act. They have started to seal PFI offices throughout the state. General Secretary Abdul Sathar has been arrested in Kerala.
Interestingly, a nine member team of PFI workers took to the streets in Balan Pillai City, Idukki district, and protested against banning their outfit. It is an indication of their future plans and their resolution that they would not turn law abiding citizens overnight.
Mother of Nandu, an RSS swayamsevak killed in Alappuzha, told the media that Central government has taken a right action by banning PFI. Sunita, mother of RSS worker Sanjith of Palakkad, echoed Nandu’s mom. She went to the extent of telling that she would not have lost her son if PFI was banned one year earlier.
Prof. T.J. Jospeh, whose hand was chopped by the PFI terrorists on July 4, 2010, told media that he opts to keep mum. Brother of Abhimanyu, SFI leader killed by PFI on July 2, 2018 in Kochi, told that PFI deserves ban. Murder politics is their method. Popular Front is not popular hence they resort to violence.
IUML leader and Deputy LoP in the legislative assembly Dr. M.K. Muneer told the media persons that they stand by the ban order. PFI spreads politics of violence. He referred to the slogans raised by a small child during a PFI rally in Alappuazha a few months before. A child’ slogan was as good as death warrants to Hindus and Christians. Muneer said, such ideologies should be uprooted.
CRPF protection has been provided for RSS karyalayas in places in Kerala where PFI enjoys prominence.
LoP V.D. Satheesan tried hard to drag RSS into the discussion on ban on PFI. Former LoP Ramesh Chennithala went to the senseless conclusion of demanding ban on RSS. Both Congress leaders’ target their cheap vote bank politics
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that ban on PFI is not a religious issue, but it is the question of national security.
In the meantime, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan has convened a high level meeting in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. Invitees consist of State Police Chief, Home Secretary and top brass of Kerala Police. Meeting will be held this afternoon, September 28, 2022.
