On the 28th of August 2022, after the Indian cricket team emerged victorious over Pakistan in the “Asia Cup” World Tournament, a series of attacks were carried out by Pakistan-based Muslim Gangs against Hindu Community in Leicester, United Kingdom. The attacks include a “high degree” of vandalisation and terrorising of the Hindus probably as a retaliatory reaction after Pakistan’s defeat. Baying mobs of Muslims trawled the city of Leicester (England) looking for Hindus.
After India won the match, many Indians in Belgrave (Hindus in particular) were seen celebrating victory and they began to wave the Tricolour (Tiranga). According to the locals, someone deliberately insulted the national flag by stamping their feet on it. This vile act had resulted in Indians replying “Pakistan Murdabad” (down with Pakistan and a major scuffle took place. There are numerous videos in which Pakistani gangs roared with the traditional Islamic war cries such as “Allah-hu Akbar” and “Naar-e Takbir”. They also used derogatory and uncouth language against the Hindus and India, especially the term “Mushriks” and “Kafirs” which means idolators and infidels respectively. They hurled jibes at Indian PM Narendra Modi and termed him a “dog”.
The violent mob then began to uproot the holy and sacrosanct Saffron Flag (Bhagwa Dhwaj) from Hindu Households. The hooded attackers also began to wield knives and engaged in knife attacks as well. Sheetal (an Indian in Belgrave) said that the Hindus were told to go straight back to their homes post work. The Hindus have been in focus ever since people from Daman and Diu arrived.
Anti-Hindu violence has not been caused by a cricket match, there is a “Hinduphobia” in Leicester. In 2019, a temple was burgled during the auspicious occasion of Navratri. British Muslim Groups such as “Muslim Engagement and Development (MEND) are trying to paint and label UK-based Hindus as “Hindutva Extremists”. The Leicester Police had been deployed and they managed to control the situation, though one policeman was severely injured in the fracas.
There is a significant amount of racial discrimination and anti-Hindu sentiment in the United Kingdom. Hindus have been termed as people from the Orient. The Global Indians (Hindus) speak of discrimination, they are gaslit, ostracized and delegitimized. In this regard, Islamists do not face much opposition. The Hinduphobia and its projects such as the desecration of sacred places and temples, targeted violence against the Hindu people, ethnic cleansing, forced conversion and genocide.
Conservative Party Member and the Mayor of London “Shaun Bailey” has stated that accommodating Hindus rob Britain of its community and has turned Britain into a “Crime Riddled Cess Pool” They argue that they prefer Indian Festivals such as Holi and Diwali over Christmas. James Cleverly, the deputy chairman of the Conservative party has defended Shaun Bailey and his anti-Hindu sentiments.
