In a closed door meeting at Meghdoot, one of the government bungalows allotted to deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met BJP legislators from Mumbai and nearby areas on Monday afternoon.

Amit Shah who was on a two day Mumbai visit in a closed door meeting informed the BJP legislators, how the BJP was betrayed by Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena. Shah narrated the events that unfolded at the now controversial meeting at Matoshree where the Sena claims that they were promised a CM post in 2019 state elections.

Shah told the party leaders that, he had categorically told the state leaders way back in 2019, that if the meeting at Matoshree was about the Chief Minister post sharing with the Shiv Sena then he would not attend it. He claims that he attended the meeting only after an assurance that, the meeting was not about CM post but about seat sharing.

According to a senior leader present in the meeting, Shah told the legislators and other leaders present that the meeting was all about, seat sharing, where the BJP even relented and left the Palghar seat for the Shiv Sena which was one of the bone of contention during the seat sharing talks.

“Not even once did the talk go on the CM post sharing with Shiv Sena,” Amit Shah said, that in two public meeting during the state assembly elections in 2019, when he and Uddhav shared the stage, both had mentioned that the elections are being fought together and Devendra Fadnavis was the Chief Minister candidate of the alliance,” said the leader.

The leader further pointed out that Shah said, “Uddhav Thackeray betrayed the party and there’s no place for such betrayal in politics and people who follow such politics do not last longer. BMC has to be won by BJP and 150 seats is the target that BJP should strive to achieve in the forthcoming elections. We fought elections on an ideology and we are now in government with the Shiv Sena that is following the ideology on which Sena-BJP came together initially.”

Politics post Shah’s these statements have made many in the BJP happy and all excited, the BJP in 2017 BMC polls had secured 82 seats just two less than the Shiv Sena and now the BJP already has started its program for the upcoming polls.

“Ashish Shelar has been appointed the BJP chief and he is visiting almost every constituency now. Devendra Fadnavis and Shelar are working together to see to it that the BJP wins the BMC polls, this time,” said a senior BJP leader.
