The arrest of two youths for buying thousands of SIMs using forged Aadhar cards and one of them, Raja Mohammed, suspected to be having links with terror outfits, has proved once again that the state is turning into a safe haven for fundamentalists, urban naxals and anti-national elements.
Vellore Sathuvachary police arrested two youths during patrolling on Chennai-Bengaluru National Highway near Alamelumangapuram on 26th. While checking their bag, they found 40 SIMs and Aadhar cards with different addresses. After initial denial, the two told the police that they have been buying SIMs by using forged Aadhar cards. The duo, Ibrahim (23) and Sheik Thasthakir of Melvishram in Ranipettai district, were handed over to the Cyber Crime wing. With their help two more Ashok (21) of Melvisharm and Vellore resident Vijay (22) were held. It is found both Ibrahim and Sheik were selling the SIMs of a private service provider and both were sacked from service. According to police, “the four jointly started buying SIMs using forged Aadhar cards after removing the photo of original member with another one. By this way they have made several Aadhars cards. The Xerox copies of genuine customers, who earlier had bought SIMs, came handy for them. They have bought thousands of SIMs and send them to Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Chennai and other areas through courier parcel. From each Aadhar card, they bought more than SIMs”. Police seized 50 SIM cards and 10 Aadhar cards copies. Police registered case against u/s 420,465,468 and 471 of IPC. Are these cards used for terror activities? The chances are bright for this angle.
Melvisharam is a Muslim majority area and is also being called “Mini Pakistan”. None can enter the town and if anyone not part of the town enters he/she would be questioned and sent out. Even police, public, municipal employees and journalists can’t enter the area. Last month a Muslim engineering college student Meer Anaas Ali (22), a resident of Masoodhi Street, Neelikollai in Ambur Town was arrested for having alleged online ties with ISIS.
Members of Thowheed Jamath and Thamizhaga Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam, blocked the stretch between OAR Theatre and the railway station in Ambur in 2015 and unleashed violence and pelted policemen with stones injuring over 50 of them. More than 500 persons gathered in strength and stormed the Ambur Police Station, demanding immediate arrest of the Inspector and constables involved in the alleged torture of Shameel Ahmed involved in an alleged love jihad complaint. Women police personnel on duty were molested by gangs of Islamic outfits. The police enforcement were forced to retreat to save their lives from the frenzied mob.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old Rajha Mohammed of R K Nagar was arrested on 26th for having links with terror outfits. He has been staying with his father in law house in Tiruvallur and was employed in a meat shop. Following a tip, CB-CID team surrounded his house and arrested him. During the 18 hour long questioning, it was found that he has been in contact with terrorists in Saudi Arabia through banned Signal app. He told them that he has been speaking a lot of people in Saudi Arabia through this app and a handler asked him to come to their country and promised to get him passport, visa and meet all expenses connected with his travel. He had also posted messages on Facebook that were critical of country’s sovereignty and were endangering India’s security. Upon probing his social media accounts, police found that he had posted content promoting Islam and demeaning other religions. The magistrate court has remanded to him judicial custody.
Most of the arrests for links with IS and other terrorist organisations by the NIA are from TN only. Like neighboring Kerala, the state is offering conducive climate to operate freely in the name of appeasement and at the cost nation’s security
