A little over a week away from the release of Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Starrer Laal Singh Chaddha and movie is heading for a massive flop with #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha burning the internet. Aamir Khan who is also known to be a shrewd businessman had earlier praised the “Kashmir Files” saying “I will definitely watch the film. It is a part of our history that is heartbreaking. What happened with the Kashmiri Pandits is very sad. Every Indian should watch the film made on this subject and should recall how it feels when one goes through such trauma”. Netizens had called out the bluff by calling it a “promotional stunt” for Lal Singh Chaddha.

The ghost of Aamir Khan’s past has returned to haunt him as Twitterati are reminding the actor about his anti-India statements and actions, his disgraceful portrayal of Hinduism on screen, his criticism of Prime Minister Modi, his socialism that only target Hindu practices and his deafening silence on Sushant Singh Rajput.

His co-star, Kareena Kapoor Khan who much-entitled queen, Marie Antoinette of the French Revolution, had earlier stated that ‘Don’t see our films, no one forced you. Her arrogance still persists and she does not have the pulse of the nation as her recent statements suggest “you have to learn to ignore certain things…I don’t take any of this like seriously.”

With over 50,000 tweets and retweets for the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha, the aam janta of India is showing a mirror to the “mega stars” of Bollywood. Here are a few tweets:

The 11th of August will decide whether the boycott translates on the ground or not. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan prays to the people of India to watch his movie. The superstar said that he feels sad about the outrage on social media “Yes, I feel sad. Also, I feel sad that some of the people who are saying this, in their heart, they believe that I am someone who doesn’t like India. In their hearts they believe, but it is untrue. It is rather unfortunate that some people feel that way. That’s not the case. Please don’t boycott my film. Please watch my film.”

Moreover, citizens are wondering why watch a copy when the original movie is available for free on OTTs. The trailer too has irked movie viewers. Aamir Khan sitting on a train tries to revamp the famous line from Forrest Gump “Mama Always Said, Life Was Like a Box of Chocolates. You Never Know What You’re Gonna Get.” with a ridiculous dialogue “Meri mummy kehti thi zindagi golgappe jaisi hondi hai, pet bhale hi bhar jaave, mann nahi bharta.” Firstly who in the world eats golgappa on the train? And Aamir Khan seems to be still living in the skin of his PK role, as he maintains the same expressions in Lal Singh Chaddha. Enough to suggest that even the megastar Aamir Khan cannot reverse the fate of the industry that is sinking deeper and deeper with every movie.
