DEFENCE SCAN: RAKSHA MANTRI LAUNCHES 75 AI PRODUCTS/TECHNOLOGIES

Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh launched 75 newly-developed AI products/technologies during the first-ever ‘AI in Defence’ (AIDef) symposium and exhibition, organised by MoD on July 11, 2022. The products, launched as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations, fall under various domains. These include AI Platform Automation; Autonomous/Unmanned/Robotics systems; Block Chain-based Automation; Command, Control, Communication, Computer & Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance; Cyber Security; Human Behavioural Analysis; Intelligent Monitoring Systems; Lethal Autonomous Weapon Systems; Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Operational Data Analytics; Manufacturing and Maintenance; Simulators/Test Equipment and speech/voice analysis using Natural Language Processing. The Raksha Mantri also released a book comprising the details of these 75 products showcasing the collective efforts put on by the DRDO, DPSUs, iDEX start-ups and the private industry in last four years in the field of AI.

 

‘BIG BANG BOOM SOLUTIONS’ TO DELIVER ANTI-DRONE DEFENCE SYSTEM TO IAF

According to media reports, Chennai-based Big Bang Boom Solutions will commence delivering its Anti-Drone Defence System (ADDS) to the IAF from August this year. This portable system can be operated by a single person.

INS TARKASH’S VISIT TO DJIBOUTI AND SUDAN

Indian Navy’s frigate INS Tarkash, visited Djibouti as part of her long-range overseas deployment followed by Maritime Partnership Exercise with Sudan Navy. The ship is on a deployment to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which is intended to coincide with the Independence Day enabling her to hoist the tricolour in South America on the occasion as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. INS Tarkash also conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise with Sudan Navy ships Almazz and Nimer in the Red Sea near the Sudan Naval Base on July 7, 2022. The exercise included manoeuvres, flying operations for vertical replenishment, visit and board operations, and communication procedures.

BRAZILIAN NAVY DELEGATION VISITS WESTERN NAVAL COMMAND

A Brazilian Navy delegation led by Vice Adml Liberal Enio Zanelatto, Director of Industrial Production & Engineering, called on Vice Adml Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command on July 11, 2022. The two senior officers discussed various issues of common interest, including defence & submarines technology, Make in India, initiatives towards professional cooperation between the navies, and the outlook of the Indian Navy towards shared maritime interests with all likeminded navies/ nations.
