Former ICC elite umpire Asad Rauf from Pakistan, who has umpired in over 170 international cricket matches from 2000 to 2013, now sells clothes and shoes in a small shop in Pakistan.
According to reports, it is said that he is not interested in cricket anymore so he is selling clothes and shoes. Six years since his ban, Rauf now leads a life far away from cricket – as the owner of a second-hand clothes shop in Lahore’s Landa Bazaar.
Asad Rauf said that he no longer has an interest in cricket since 2013 – after the ICC removed him from the Elite Panel of Umpires. “I’ve umpired in so many games all my life, there’s no one left to see now,” Rauf said in an interview with the Pakistani news outlet. I haven’t been in touch with the game since 2013, because once I leave something I leave it completely.
Rauf was a member of the ICC Elite Umpire Panel from 2006 to 2103 and officiated in several high profile matches. In IPL 2013, the BCCI had also made an accused in the spot-fixing scandal on allegations of contact with bookies and receiving gifts from bookies. He was later banned by the governing body of world cricket. A model from Mumbai had also accused him of rape by luring her in marriage.
