In the Maldives, Islamist radicals disrupted Yoga Day celebrations. Islamists were spotted approaching the Galolhu stadium where thousands were practising yoga on the eighth International Yoga Day, according to videos posted on social media. They tore down the stadium’s flags and used them to harm the celebrations’ attendees.

As per foreign media reports, the Indian Mission in the Maldives organised the event in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Development. Diplomats, government officials and Maldives ministers were present at the event when the Islamist extremists barged into the stadium.

After the incident, Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih issued a statement and said, “An investigation has been launched by Maldives Police into the incident that happened this morning at Galolhu stadium. This is being treated as a matter of serious concern, and those responsible will be swiftly brought before the law.”

India Out Campaign

All these days Yameen and PPM have been running the India Out campaign unopposed since the ruling party Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) is busy with their internal rivalry politics. This young movement has activists from MDP and supporters of former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb’s party Maldives Third-Way Democrats (MTD) that has publicly opposed the “India Out” campaign.

But Yameen and PPM have been organizing protests all over Male, creating hate against Indians with hate speech and racist remarks.

They have been repeatedly protesting outside the residence of the Indian High Commissioner in the Maldives and harassing high commission staff with false propaganda and personal attacks on their owned media with so many daily lies and threats.

Yameen and PPM have created so much hate against Indians that even Indians working in the Maldives are harassed and threatened and don’t feel safe anymore in the Maldives.
