Delhi Police special cell’s cyber unit, on Thursday (June 16), arrested Bhim Sena Chief Satpal Tanwar from his residence for announcing a one-crore bounty on former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Special cell office told Indian Express, “We took cognisance of the video. The man is heard making life-threatening remarks and is trying to spread hatred. We arrested Tanwar from Gurgaon. He has been booked under IPC sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insult modesty of a woman) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups).”

Tanwar is arrested days after Gurgaon Police booked him under sections of promoting enmity between different groups, abetment, intentional insult and criminal intimidation. BJP Youth Wing president Sarvapriya Tyagi lodged the complaint against Tanwar.

In the complaint filed against Tanwar, Tyagi said Bhim Sena Chief’s comments on Nupur Sharma is a disrespect to all women in the society. He further said that Tanwar’s call against violence against Nupur Sharma could life create a life-threatening situation for her and her family.

“He must be arrested and put behind bars. His statements disrupt social harmony,” Tyagi said. He also said Tanwar’s hate speech videos on YouTube are especially aimed at Hindus.

In a widely circulated video, Tanwar announced a bounty of 1 crore on Nupur Sharma for commenting on Mohammad’s life. He said Nupur Sharma was the mastermind behind the Kanpur violence and said her crime isn’t punishable. Tanwar said Nupur Sharma committed blasphemy and hurt crores of Indians.

“Nupur Sharma is the real mastermind of Kanpur violence. Modi and Yogi government must arrest her immediately and throw her into jail. However, they didn’t take any legal action against her, so I announce a reward of Rs 1 crore to whoever brings me her severed tongue,” said Tanwar.

“If the state and central government are not capable of taking action against Nupur Sharma, they should hand over her to me… I will make her do mujra [a dance performed by Mughal era courtesans] in front of everyone and then punish her as I deem fit. The whole country will see her dance,” Tanwar says in a 20-minute video available on YouTube.

This isn’t the only threat the former spokesperson of BJP has received after alleged fact-checker, and Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair twisted her comments on Mohammad’s life in his 85-second video.

AIMIM (Inquilab) chief Qavi Abbasi announced a similar one crore bounty on Nupur Sharma after the video went viral. Several Islamists have been issuing rape and death threats to Nupur Sharma publicly.

Despite apologising for her comments on Mohammad, the Islamists are not satisfied and are continuing to hit on the streets in several states. Muslim mob wreaked havoc in several states on June 10 after Friday prayers and pelted stones and vandalised public property in the name of protest.
