#VetoOfViolence: Had action been taken against Hinduphobic posts, Nupur episode would not have happened

Nupur Sharma episode would not have happened had the Government taken timely action against Left-Liberals and Islamists who were mocking Hindu symbols and hurting religious sentiments

There was widespread condemnation of the statement of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma in the Muslim world. However, it is a fact that had the Government taken timely action against Leftists/Liberals who made lewd and sarcastic remarks against Hindus, such an unsavoury situation would not have arisen. In the controversial TV programme, she was upset with the continuous mocking of Hindu symbols of faith by an Islamist panelistthat led to her losing her cool and uttering stuff that upset Islamists and Muslim countries in the Gulf.

What Nupur Sharma had asked the panelistswas if she also give it back in the same way how he would feel about it? She mentioned a reference to the Prophet (PBUH)’s marrying a 6-year-old girl, which many felt was offensive, though Nupur did not even name Prophet Muhammad.

The clip, which became viral after dubious fact-checker Mohammad Zubair shared it on his social media, became fodder for vested interests to mobilise support against India, both domestically and internationally. Close on the heels of Zubair’s post, former BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal were receiving death threats. Delhi Police has provided security to Nupur Sharma.

No end to Hindu Bashing

Ever since news broke that a Shivling has been found inside the disputed Gyanvapi structure during the videography there, jokes on Shivling have flooded the Indian internet. There were nasty comments, ribald jokes about Hindu symbols of faith. But the professional outrage bridge did not see anything amiss and they encouraged the culprits.

The trend for these jokes was started by alleged journalist Saba Naqvi, who hid behind a “WhatsApp forward” to display her bigotry. She deleted the post after there was a barrage of response against her appalling post. Apart from the usual anonymous troll brigade on Twitter, several “blue ticked” handles joined in to mock Shivling and the Hindu beliefs. Saba Naqvi at least had the courtesy or fear (since a Police complaint was filed against her) to delete her tweet, but none of these blue ticked handles even bothered to do that. The brazen mocking of Shivling and Hindu beliefs is still just a search away for anyone who wants to check them.

The trend for these jokes was started by alleged journalist Saba Naqvi, who hid behind a “WhatsApp forward” to display her bigotry. The tweet has since been deleted but it started the online trend of mocking Shivling in the most offensive ways imaginable

However, the point that is lost in the whole debate is the continuous mockery of Hindus and Hindu symbols of worship and the Liberal-secular nonchalance to it. Those who mock the Hindu religion and give open threats get away without any action. The journalists in the Economic Times published some of the most vicious memes to mock Hindus.

In the film PK, God Shiva was shown as a clown

Even as the controversy was raging in the capital, Periyarist outfits, the two Communist parties and Popular Front of India took out a rally in which abuses were hurled at Goddess Amman, Lord Krishna, Lord Ayyappan and also insulted followers of the Hindu faith. The slogans raised at the march go like this: “Is that Maari (Goddess Amman), who asks for sacrifice of goats and pigs, a God? Is Kannan (Lord Krishna), who raped woman, a God? Will a child be born if a man and man have sex? Is calling Ayyappan a God rational?”

As expected, the self-proclaimed liberals who had jumped in to guard the Islamic faith were missing in action. Not a word of condemnation came from the left-liberal and ‘moderate Muslim’ (whatever that means). Except for filing a case, none of the abusers have been taken to task.

Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother and AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi made scandalous remarks on Lord Ram and his mother Kaushalya.“There are three temples in Ayodhya that claim that Ram was born there. In Haryana’s Kausalyapuram people claim the same citing the Indian practice of women giving birth to the first child in their maternal houses. In Kausalyapuram, people believe that Kausalya, the mother of Rama and wife of King Dashratha hailed from here, and thus Rama too was born here itself. While three pandits claim three different birthplaces for Rama, then Advani, Vajpayee, Uma Bharati and Modi should tell us where did mother of Rama go to give birth to him?”, the AIMIM MLA said amidst thunderous cheers by rabid Islamist goons.

In Karnataka, during a protest against the burqa ban in Government-run schools and colleges, social activist Keeluholali Satish insulted God Brahma and Goddess Saraswati by making obscene remarks. In Kerala, SFI put up banners that showed Goddesses Saraswati.

The liberals who condemned the killing of Charlie Hebdo cartoonists were putting their weight behind Islamists who were issuing death and rape threats against young politician Nupur Sharma. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds when at every Hindu festival they sermonise Hindus on animal rights, environmental protection while silent on cruelty on animals during Bakrid.

Arfa Khanum Sherwani, notorious Islamist, who had once told a Muslim gathering that they should hide their real ideology and appear more inclusive till they have their way, leaves no opportunity to criticise Hindu festivals. She made controversial comments about Kavads while talking very highly about Eid.

Anti-Hindu Film Industry

The Hindi film industry is infested with anti-Hindu elements. A Muslim director openly claimed that his films were a means to impart his ideology. In one blockbuster, Aamir Khan made fun of Hindu Gods in his movie PK in which he showed Lord Siva pulling a cart with two burqa-clad women passengers. Lord Siva is also shown in a clownish manner in a scene at a toilet. Tamil Nadu has been a major theatre of anti-Hindu propaganda. Karuppar Kootam, a YouTube channel run by Periyarists with links to the DMK set off a storm by abusing Kandha Sashti Kavasam, a hymn dedicated to the Hindu God Murugan. This channel had indulged in targeted attacks against Hindus posting videos abusing Hindu Gods, Hindus and Brahmins for a long time under the garb of ‘rationalism’. The channel had run a series titled “Aabasa Puranam” (Porn Puranam), in which members of the Karuppar Kootam had used vulgar language against Hindu Gods like Murugan, Saraswathi, Brahma, etc.

In one such video titled “Saraswathi Puranam”, Surendar Natarajan, a member of the Karuppar Kootam had said “You say Saraswathi sits in the tongue of Brahma. If we ask, where will Saraswathi go when she needs to pee or has a bad stomach. They don’t have an answer. You told she is in the tongue, shouldn’t you also say you also have built a toilet in Brahma’s mouth?”
