Guwahati: Yet another massive win for the ruling BJP in Assam. BJP registered a splendid win in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election.

As per the result declared on Sunday (June 12), BJP won 26 out of 26 seats in the autonomous council election. The main opposition of the state Congress Party couldn’t win a single seat in the hill district. In most seats, Congress was in the third or fourth position, even far behind the independent candidates. This is the 8th consecutive loss for the Congress party in different elections in Assam held in the last year.

BJP, which was in power in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, will form the next council government of its own after securing an absolute majority. BJP will hold its next executive meeting in Diphu on 14 and 15th June, where they will celebrate the massive win in the hill district autonomous council election.

Reacting to the humiliating defeat of the main opposition Congress party, minister Pijush Hazarika said that the grand old party will be diminished from the political map of Assam very soon.

On the other hand, BJP’s alliance partner UPPL won the Koklabari MLC by-election in the Bodoland Territorial Council. Reacting to the thumping win, KAAC election state BJP said that the people of Assam and the tribal society of the state have rejected opposition parties, including Congress and reimposing their faith in Bharatiya Janata Party.
