Bharat means peace, love, harmony, yoga and more. It is always a giver to the world, from food, fuel, medicine, and socio-economic polities to anything one can imagine. Though it was humiliated by invaders, barbarians and colonists in history, it never lost its inner strength of civilization and culture. Bharat has become the bread and butter of the world for the rich countries and the Anthodhya of the world. Not only food but its Vaccine Maîtri of sending medicines to America made Bharat proud among the equals. When few countries say they export cutting-edge technology and future innovations India is mastering how to feed the world. Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a great agricultural revolution is taking place in India from increasing the income of farmers to insurance soil health card drones in agriculture and standing with the last marginal farmer through direct transfer to account.
According to the Government of India Ministry of Commerce for the Year 2020-2021, India exported to the world Rice 4794.54 Million dollars, Basmati rice 4018.64 Million dollars, Sugar 2789.97 Million dollars, Cotton Raw including waste 1879.20 Million dollars, Oil Meals 1575.34 Million dollars, Castor Oil 917.24 Million dollars, Fresh Fruits 765.562 Million dollars, Groundnut 727.36 Million dollars, Fresh Vegetables 721.47 Million dollars, Processed Fruits and Juices 694.14 Million dollars, Wheat 579.16 Million dollars, Cashew 420.43 Million dollars, diary products 321.95 Million dollars, Pulses 265.53 Million dollars and more. The US is also the largest importer of Indian marine products, followed by China, the European Union, and Japan.
According to World Trade Organization (WTO) data, India’s agricultural exports touched $37,371 million in 2019 against $ 2,106 million in 2010, recording a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.49% during the last ten years. The CAGR of the world’s agricultural exports was 3.11% from 2010 to 2019. India’s share in world agricultural exports stood at 2.1% in 2019, increasing from 1.71% in 2010.
When India said it would ban wheat exports, the world market got dazzled. But India said it will never disturb the status quo but will ensure its people first get their share and all its commitment to the world will be kept. It was successful in it. Secondly world is alarmed as they think India may ban exports of rice. But Bharat said they do not plan to curb shipments for now, as local prices remain low and state warehouses hold ample supplies. Monsoon rains determine the size of India’s rice crop, and plentiful rains this year would help it maintain its preeminent position in the global rice trade.
India’s rice exports touched a record 21.5 million tonnes in 2021, more than the combined shipments of the world’s next four biggest grain exporters: Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan and the United States. India, the world’s biggest rice consumer after China, has a market share of more than 40% of the global rice trade. India exports rice to more than 150 countries, and any reduction in its shipments would fuel food inflation. The grain is a staple for more than 3 billion people, and when India banned exports in 2007, global prices shot to new peaks. Besides serving Asian buyers like China, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines, India supplies rice to countries such as Togo, Benin, Senegal and Cameroon.
Finally, one can say that when the world is moving dangerously to dominate and rise as power with debt trap diplomacy, control of water resources, vaccine diplomacy and playing with mineral resources, India is striving to feed not only its citizens but also of the world with food fuel and medicines.
