The head Maulana of Madani madrasa and his assistant sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy on May 29 in Gujarat’s Bapunagar.

The police have arrested both the Maulanas and charged them under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act).

The father of the victim took him to nearby Madani Madrasa when the schools closed for the summer holidays. The father thought that it would be good to child in the Madrasa for the summer teaching.

He dropped his son in the Madrasa on May 29. On May 30, when he returned home from work, he found his son in the room. Little surprised, since he has dropped his son in the Madrasa just a day before, he enquired on his son.

The victim, still terrified, complained of pain in his private parts. On further questioning, he revealed how he was sexually assaulted by the two Maulanas at the Madrasa.

He told his father that two Maulanas woke him up late night. The head Maulana started thrashing him while the other held his hand. Later, they injected him following which he fell unconscious.

When he woke up, he had severe pain in his anus and private parts. The victim ran away to his home.

After he revealed his suffering, he was taken to Shardaben hospital for treatment. The police case was registered following which the Maulanas were arrested.

Sexual assault has become a very distinguishing feature of Madrasas.

As reported by the Organiser in March this year, a Maulana in Kerala was arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl. Maulana Sharafudeen had threatened the victim that he would harm her family if she revealed about rape to anybody.

In another such case, Maulana Shoaib Akhtar was arrested on February 6 for raping a 10-year-old child in a madrasa in Hyderabad.

Akhtar, who taught Arabic in the madrasa, was raping the victim every day. The matter came to light on February 6 when the victim complained to his parents about pain in his private parts.
