ABVP held JUSTICE MARCH, demanding justice for survivors in recent cases of sexual assault.

The students also alleged that the activists associated with the Marxist organization are openly intimidating the victim and other witnesses and inflicting other forms of mental torture like a social boycott.

ABVP’s JNU unit took out a ‘Justice March’ in support of sexual assault survivors. The survivor had courageously reported the unfortunate incident to the Chairperson, and the Chairperson had also assured to put up the matter in the faculty meeting. But the Chairperson adopted a casual attitude and misled the student.

Frustrated by the lethargic response in the case, the student’s organization today protested and demanded the removal of the CPS chairperson. The students alleged that the ICC (Internal Complaints Committee) has not yet taken concrete steps. The students also alleged that the activists associated with the Marxist organization are openly intimidating the victim and other witnesses and inflicting other forms of mental torture like a social boycott.

ABVP JNU President Rohit Kumar said that “ABVP has placed four demands before the Dean of the School of Social Sciences. First of all, the survivor’s safety should be ensured, and alternative arrangements should be made for her examination. The matter is sensitive, so it is necessary to ensure that there is no discrimination with the student regarding examinations or marks, and her academic performance must not be hampered. Second, a committee should be formed immediately to look into the matter and if any role of the CPS chairperson comes to the fore, he should be asked to resign. Third strict action should be taken against the culprit. Also, people associated with left parties are shaming, threatening, and inflicting social boycott with the survivor and her friends. The Dean must ensure that no one faces boycott, exclusion and untouchability. Fourth, workshops related to gender sensitization should be organized so that awareness spreads among the students community.

ABVP JNU secretary Umesh Ajmeera said that “AISA and SFI have always been giving protection to their activists accused of sexual harassment. In the past, these organizations have also been trying to suppress their misdeeds by giving every possible support to assaulters. When there used to be GSCASH, then through GSCASH, these people used to save their accused sexual assaulter activists. But this time, they have been exposed, and the JNU students community has recognized their anti-women double-faced behaviour.
