Jamiat Conclave in Deoband was Organised to Incite Muslims towards Separatism & Hate, Says Vishva Hindu Parishad

Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Monday (May 30), said that the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind conclave in Deoband only furthered the cause of separatism and hatred.

“In the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind conclave in Deoband, extremist Muslim leaders propagated the narrative of Muslim victimhood and tried to incite the Muslim community,” VHP Joint General Secretary Dr Surendra Jain said.

He further added, “All India Muslim Personal Law Board and extremist Muslim leaders only furthered the agenda of separatism by challenging the Indian Constitution, Judiciary and Hindu society.”

The conclave, which concluded on Sunday (May 29), decided that the Jamiat would oppose the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Jamiat President Maulana Madani said that Islamic laws are revered by Muslims worldwide, and Muslims anywhere will not tolerate any interference in their personal laws.

Jamiat also said that a deliberate attempt was made to spread canards about Prophet Mohammed. It passed a resolution demanding the government to take strict action against blasphemy.

The VHP said that the Muslim appeasement had been the centre of Indian politics till a few years back. Only recently, the Indian Constitution has become the fulcrum of Indian politics. Because of the dominance of Muslim appeasement, Muslim leaders were able to get all their demands fulfilled. The partition of the country in 1947 was the result of Muslim appeasement.

Islamists are propagating the narrative of Muslim victimhood and pushing an extremist agenda.

Dr Jain said that attacks on Ram Navami processions, Mahavir Jayanti processions, and cases of Love Jihad are not symptoms of a scared community but a community which scares. The Islamists are challenging the orders of the court through street violence.

Dr Jain further said that Maulana Madani was speaking the language of Jinnah when he said that their culture was different from the rest of the country. Madani also said that this was their country, and those who didn’t like Islam could move to another country.

Islamist leaders claim they did not go to Pakistan in 1947 and stayed back in India because they love the country. Calling it a blatant lie, the VHP said that this propaganda of Islamists must be discussed.

In his book India Wins Freedom, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad wrote that most of the Muslims stayed away from the Indian freedom struggle. In the 1946 polls, over 90% of Muslims voted for the Muslim League, which was rooting for partition.

Dr Jain said, “I want to remind the extremists that this is not India of 1946. They should not even think about separatism, as it will be bad for them too.” He appealed to the Muslims to shun Sharia and follow the Indian Constitution.

In the Deoband conclave, the Jamiat said that there had been a deliberate attempt to discredit Islamic studies, and it will now make efforts to popularise Islamic studies. It also appealed to Muslims to follow Islamic laws.

The VHP appealed to the Muslim leaders to shun Sharia and follow Indian Constitution as it was the only path to harmony and development.

This was the first time in 14 years that the two factions of the Jamiat attended any programme together. Darul Uloom Deoband Principal Arshad Madani, who heads a faction of the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, attended the two-day conclave.
