New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, May 23, said India would work for an inclusive and ‘flexible Indo-Pacific Economic Framework’.
He also said trust, transparency, and timeliness would be key elements in ties between Quad member nations – India, the US, Australia and Japan.
PM Modi, US President Joe Biden, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken attended the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework event in Tokyo.
US President Biden said that the Indo-Pacific covers half the world’s population, “over 60% of global GDP and nations represented here today”. He also said that those who will join this Indo Pacific Economic Framework in future are signing up to work toward an economic vision “that will deliver for all our people”.
In his remarks, Japanese PM Kishida said that his country has been contributing to the stable prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region in cooperation with the US and other regional partners, including India.
Prime Minister Modi also held interactions with Japanese industry captains.
“India is growing quickly. There are new startups and unicorns every day. I think India’s future is bright,” said Masayoshi Son, Board Director, SoftBank Group Corp.
He further said – “Prime Minister Modi is committed to the success of India, supporting startups, unicorns and making India the centre of tech in the world.”
