In the changing times where media is undergoing a paradigm shift, and there is a rush of news seen across, it has become very important to remember the journalist Naradji, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar, while addressing a programme organised by Vishwa Samvad Kendra on the occasion of Narad Jayanti in Jaipur. Veteran journalists were felicitated on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Ambekar said, “Independence will be established in its true sense when we work keeping the national interest paramount. Today, it has become necessary to know history to make a future, as there are many debatable issues. The nation is not built by simply worshipping anyone, but it is made by thousands of years of ‘sadhana’, and to accomplish this goal, country awakening is needed; Media should play its role here.”

Ambekar said that instead of spreading lies to sensationalise, the media should bring positive things in front of society. Exceptional and positive works are being done in the country, and they should be encouraged and featured, he said.

A journalist is also a social worker; hence, he should keep the interest of the country and society in his mind. The topics that create controversy in the society should be avoided, but the issues of appeasement which are suppressed should be made public, he added.

The new generation should step ahead to lead from the front and make people aware. Naradji, too, in those times, worked to make the entire society aware. Further, media should play a positive role in giving direction to society, he added.

Ambekar said that journalism enjoyed tremendous respect during the freedom movement as revolutionaries in those times used to write somewhere and publicise their content widely despite a lack of resources. However, at that time, the media was crushed. In such a situation, it is very important to remember the journalists of those times today.

It is also necessary to put forward the idea of Naradji because he intended that the information in the news should always be correct. Without knowing a complete truth, the news should not move forward, he added.

Senior journalist Pravinchandra Chhabra, the chief guest of the function, said that there was a transition period from 1945 to 1951 in the country, and this cannot be forgotten. Veer Savarkar, Nehru, Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose had unforgettable contributions to the freedom movement, but today, progressive people write and speak anything about them. We should, in fact, read their contribution. From the time of independence, the discussions of the Hindu revival had started in the country, in which the role of the Sangh cannot be denied.
JECRC VC Amit Agarwal presided over the programme.

At the beginning of the program, the team of Dr Ankit Pareek enthralled the audience present in the auditorium by presenting the Narad dance drama. Through the Kathak dance, the team staged the life character of Devarshi Narad. After this, the convener of the function committee, Manoj Mathur, gave information about Narada Jayanti and journalist honour programs.

In the programme, Dainik Bhaskar’s cartoonist Chandrashekhar Hada, Zee Rajasthan News’s Ashish Chauhan and ETV India’s journalist Vinay Pant were honoured.
