In adding insult to injury, the Wikipedia page of the movie The Kashmir Files has called the story of the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits ‘inaccurate’ and a ‘conspiracy theory’.
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the director of the movie, flayed Wikipedia for running propaganda against the movie and for its attempt to normalise the sufferings of the Kashmiri Pandits.
Taking to Twitter, Agnihotri wrote “Dear Wikipedia, you forgot to add ‘Islamophobia… propaganda… Sanghi… bigot… etc’. You are failing your Secular credentials. Hurry, edit more.”
The Wikipedia page reads “The film presents a fictional storyline centered around an exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in the disputed region of Kashmir. It depicts the early 1990s exodus to be a genocide, a notion that is widely considered inaccurate and associated with conspiracy theories.”
The Leftists and Islamist cabal are out to hurt the movie from the inception stage itself. Multiple attempts were made to ensure that the movie does not see the light of the day.
Even before the movie was released, NDTV had called it a propaganda movie.
Talking about the hostilities mounted against The Kashmir Files, PM Modi had said that the movie was bringing out facts about an incident which was suppressed for years by the ecosystem and the same ecosystem is running campaigns to discredit the film.
He was addressing the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting in Ambedkar Bhavan in Delhi on March 15.
“The entire Jamaat, which claims to be the flag-bearer of the freedom of expression, has been furious for the last 5-6 days. Instead of reviewing the film on the basis of facts and art, there’s a conspiracy to discredit it,” PM Modi had said.
Reviewing the movie, Film Companion, a Leftist platform run by the wife of director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, said “The Kashmir Files is a defensive and dishonest drive into the past.”
It added “The filmmaking in The Kashmir Files is exploitative. None of it stems from a genuine space of understanding or curiosity.”
The movie was released in theatres on March 11. Despite all the sabotage attempts, it has done a business of over 350 crore rupees, making it a massive hit.
The Kashmir Files, starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi, tells the story of the genocide and the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits in 1990 in the Valley.
