The Delhi Branch of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, completed the second Phase (orientation) of its youth program Young India: Know Thyself the last Sunday. Nikhil Yadav, Prant Yuva Pramukh, Vivekananda Kendra, Uttar Prant informed, “In total, seven (7) orientations (workshop) were held in April in which 350 students of Delhi University participated.”
Students from around twenty-two colleges of the university were present in these orientations, which included Swami Sharadhanand, PGDAV (Morning and Evening college), Maharaja Agrasen College, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Morning and Evening), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Janki Devi Memorial College, Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied for Women, among others. The orientations were held at Vivekananda Kendra Chanakyapuri, New Delhi centre. The purpose of these orientations(workshops) is to introduce the youth to the ideas of Swami Vivekananda. The duration of each orientation (workshop) is four hours: games, skit preparation, presentation, group discussion, and presentation.
It starts with an invocation and a small introduction to the participants. Further, an introductory remark is being made to put the participants at ease and provide a road map of the orientation. Then we switch to Geet (a patriotic song). After introduction and Geet, all the participants are divided into groups, and they move outdoor for the game and further activities. The purpose of the games is to build a team spirit and enhance group dynamics and decision-making among the participants. Further, we moved on to our next activity, i.e., skit presentation, where the groups had to perform a skit on the theme, i.e., Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat. After it came to the group discussion, the topic of GD was ‘Need to Know Thyself’. The GD is concluded with a presentation by the participants and concluding remarks from senior Karyakarta of Vivekananda Kendra. The next step after these orientations will be weekly personality development workshops held every Sunday. A five-day residential camp will take place out of the selected students from the orientations in June.
