A high-level delegation from Kerala led by Chief Secretary Dr VP Joy started its three-day visit to Gujarat on Wednesday (April 27) to study the ‘Gujarat Model’ of governance.
The delegation will specifically focus on the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Dashboard system for project implementation.
The Dashboard system, a highly effective system to monitor the implementation of different projects, allows the Gujarat chief minister to access data from all e-Governance applications in the state and monitor the same against defined key performance indicators. Using this data, the chief minister’s office can “drill down to a granular level on the fly for red-flagged items and intervene through voice calls to administrative machinery at the village level”. The application facilitates all of the above, thus creating a complex network of aggregation, visualisation, and enforcement.
The Dashboard performs collections of more than 3000 indicators of 20 government sectors from various e-Governance applications on a daily basis and integrates all the key stakeholders on a single platform which facilitates easy problem-solving.
The sanction for a visit was provided on April 26.
The visit to Gujarat comes in the backdrop of a fake claim by the AAP government in Delhi that senior officials from Kerala had visited its schools in Delhi to study the ‘Delhi Model of Education’.
As reported by the Organiser, a major controversy erupted on April 24 when Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty publicly countered the claim of AAP MLA Atishi.
On April 23 afternoon, Atishi shared a few pictures of some ‘officials’ visiting from Kerala to study the education model of Delhi. Along with the pictures, she wrote on Twitter, “It was wonderful to host officials from Kerala at one of our schools in Kalkaji. They were keen to understand and implement our education model in their state. This is Arvind Kejriwal Govt’s idea of nation-building. Development through collaboration.”
Atishi is AAP MLA from the Kalkaji constituency in Delhi.
On April 24, Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty said that the Kerala government had not sent any delegation to Delhi to study the education model of Delhi. He claimed some officials from Delhi had visited Kerala last month to study the ‘Kerala model’, and all assistance was provided to them.
Quoting Atishi’s tweet, Minister Sivankutty wrote, “Kerala’s Dept of Education has not sent anyone to learn about the ‘Delhi Model’. At the same time, all assistance was provided to officials who had visited from Delhi to study the ‘Kerala Model’ last month. We would like to know which ‘officials’ were welcomed by the AAP MLA.”
Later, Atishi clarified that some private officials from Kerala had visited a school in Kalkaji to study its functioning of the school.
