Ignoring the wishes of devotees, the indefatigable ‘Hindu phobic’ DMK government has invaded the 64-year -old Sri Rama Samaaj aka Ayodhya Mandapam on Sri Ram Navami Day despite peaceful protests from the locals. It was a state-sponsored targeted attack on Hindu temples through its HR & CE department and police.

Uma Anandan, the lone BJP councillor in Chennai Corporation and leader of the Hindu temples protection movement, told Organiser that, “Ayodhya Aswamedha Maha Mandapam in West Mambalam is a place where religious discourses, Radha Kalyanams, homams, bhajans, sacred thread wearing ceremony, Krishna Jayanthi, Ram Navami takes place. It is not a temple as claimed by HR & CE.”

She said that HR & CE has no right to forcefully take over the mandapam against the Supreme Court verdict, and issued no show-cause notice regarding the issue. Uma Anandan cited the Chidambaram temple verdict, which said that HR & CE could take over a place of worship only if it finds the presence of evil and that it can manage it only till the issue is sorted out. She said a notice on plain paper is pasted informing the taking over the Samaj.

Omampuliyur Jayaraman, You-Tuber, said, “DMK is like Muslim invaders; busy demolishing Hindu temples in the name of encroachments leaving churches and mosques. In nearby busy T. Nagar, a house has been converted as a mosque, which causes noise pollution to shoppers and creating traffic snarls during Namaz times. DMK wanted to punish voters who have elected lone BJP member to Corporation by taking over the samaj,” TN Governor R N Ravi visited the Mandapam last week and gave a speech on Lord Sri Ram.

Social media activist Anand Venkat pointed out that Corporation officials armed with court order went to demolish a church built over the Cooum in Amiijikarai. The church assembled a few hundred within an hour and blocked the roads on either side. Fearing a law and order issue, the officials went back, and the church stands gigantically and symbolically mocking the inept Hindus.

KP Kallapiran S Iyengar, on his FB page, says, “DMK is compelled to prove its anti- Hindu stance to the people who voted for it. It is similar to testimonial marketing. That is why DMK is more aggressive this days. During British days, the turned entire aversion to one particular community/ caste and Periyar and justice party leader sowed the seed of hatred against Hindu religion. It is reason for the DMK government has been razing down a record number of Hindu temples and append the sentiments of the Hindus by its actions.”

T R Ramesh of the Temple Worshippers Society questioned how a government’s servant appointment as a trustee in place of the sole trustee when only a practising Hindu can take that place as ruled by the Constitution bench of the SC. He said the appointment of the EO of another temple as a ‘Fit person’ was invalid as the EO had no appointment order in the first place.

Police arrested at least 60 people, including four women, on charges of preventing HR & CE officials from taking over the control of Ayodhya Mandapam.

Uma Anandan said their appeal in Madras High Court came up for hearing today. The HC has allowed for the functioning of the marriage hall, school, Gnana Vapi by the trust and posted it for 21 April.
