New Delhi: New York saw one of the worst outbreaks of violence in recent history, with a mass shooting that left over 20 people injured.
Initially, at least 16 were reported to be injured on Tuesday in a subway station near Brooklyn’s Sunset Park in New York City. The shootings occurred during the morning commute at the 36th Street subway station in Brooklyn.
The mishap happened during peak commuting hours when employees and students were heading toward work. The area was cordoned off, and police teams were monitoring the situation.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has said that President Joe Biden had been briefed about the incident.

In other video and photos from the scene, people presumed to be bloodied passengers were lying on the platform, some amid what appear to be small puddles of blood, and another person is on the floor of a subway car.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) officials who are investigating the incident said that during preliminary searches, no active explosive devices were found at the scene of the Brooklyn subway incident. They named Frank James as the person of suspect.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland has received a preliminary briefing and is monitoring the situation, reports say.
