Andhra Pradesh govt allows Muslim employees to leave offices early during Ramzan

AP Government permitted all Muslim government employees, teachers, and contract workers to leave offices/schools early by one hour in the evening on all working days during the Ramzan month.

Amaravati: All Muslim government employees, teachers, and contract workers are permitted to leave offices/ schools early by one hour in the evening on all working days during the month of Ramzan from April 3 to May 2, said the Government of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday.

“Government hereby permit all the Government Servants, Teachers, Persons hired on contract and outsourcing personnel, who profess Islam to leave offices/schools early by one hour in the evening on all working days during the Holy Month of ‘Ramzan,” i.e. from April 3, 2022, to May 2, 2022 (both days Inclusive) to perform necessary rituals, except when their presence is required due to exigencies of services during the said period,” said an order issued by the Andhra Pradesh government.

Meanwhile, Delhi Jal Board withdrew an order with immediate effect, which granted a two-hour break every day to all Muslim employees during Ramzan.

A circular on Tuesday read, “A Circular was issued on April 4, 2022, for short leave (Approximately two hours a day) to the Muslim employees during the days of Ramzan. Now, the Competent Authority vide their order has decided to withdraw the above said Circular with immediate effect.”

On Monday, the DJB said it has decided to allow short leave (of approximately two hours a day) to the Muslim employees “during Ramzan that is, April 3 to May 2 or till the date of Idu’l fitr is declared, subject to the condition that they will accomplish their work during the remaining office hours so that the office work does not suffer.”

Ramzan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, during which the followers of Islam fast between dawn and sunset. (With inputs from ANI)
